GREAT update... thanks for the tough work to all the OS4 Dev Team !
I LOVE the new features...
I must say, however, that I would prefer the "old" OS 4.0 default GUI look for the window gadgets and corners... it, IMHO, was really great and perfectly suited for the task of renewing the AmigaOS look...
I strongly hope that the court case can end soon with more and more people that can join the OS4 family, with ports, for a long awaited (re)start, to SAM, mac mini and so on...
I think only Rogue or Tfrieden can answer what JXFS stand for.
Yes, Rogue mentioned it at AW:
JXFS is all new. It is, to date, the fastest filesystem you can get on the Amiga, has full 64 bit support, and I really don't know what the name is an acronym for.
JiffyFast Filesystem ?
Hi @ Plaz, > .... in the case of your avatar it stands for....
Not really. diskimage.device for OS4 has had large file support since day one using the latest public SDK.
Same with most of my other programs.
Even the OS3.x version has large file support thanks to Joerg's libdos64 (I haven't tested it though since I don't use OS3.x anymore except maybe occasionally to test a crosscompiled port).
The only things that are missing in the current SDK is the new 64-bit file size aware directory scanning functions in dos.library (can be worked around by using Open()/GetFileSize()) and 64-bit file access functions in c library (not needed if you use dos.library).
Hmmmm, I guess Hyperion Entertainment thinks it's going to win the trial........
SO DO I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the right move to make by Hyperion.
Congratulations for 4.1 guys!!!!!!
No matter how things turn out anyway, you've truly pursued the dream, and you deserve much more than you have now.
My AmigaOne using prerelease 4 has just passed 29 days and 18 hours uptime, under constant use, but only 3 or 4 programs primarily. That is exemplary for the burdens that faced you while trying to make the monumental stride.
I'm a bit preoccupied right now, some things have come up, and also I'm extremely excited about NatAmi, but that in no way distracts me from AOS4.x support and usage.
I never once was disappointed that I had spent so much to buy an AmigaOne. Wish I could get that ACube faster CPU they offer for it (and the 2 fixes)!
All behind the Amiga continuance, that being AOS4.x, our time WILL come!
Amiga is..... Superior!
Support Amiga Fantasy cases!!! How to program: 1. Start with lots and lots of 0's. 10. Add 1's, liberally. "Details for OS 5 will be made public in the fourth quarter of 2007, ..." - Bill McEwen Whoah!!! He spoke, a bit late.
