booting from ext USB HD ?

Hi all,
just got myself a lacie 80Go external 2.5" HDfor backup.
as default, it was immediately recongnized and a few seconds later, I was able to open the sole FAT partition !

now I installed the SLB, create a partition in SFS (bootable + automount), quick format with sfsformat, copy clone my SYS: and now I am trying to test the boot from USB disk option in Uboot.

unfortunately, it does not boot
both the HD and SLB are found but Uboot does not find a valid boot device
I tried the front and the rear USB ports but it still does not boot.

someone successfull regarding this matter ?

USB boot is supported by OS4.0 - you may need to move usbmassstorage.device into Kickstart and add it to kicklayout.

However, you sound like you are having problems at the U-Boot stage. I was under the impression this should work, but I've never tried it.

You can warm boot from USB devices so long as massstorage.device and other necessary files are in kickstart. Cold booting from USB devices doesn't work, sadly

is (cold) booting from USB HD be part of os4.1 ?
