Hi @amigakit we will have Radeon 9250 - did you want AGP or PCI version? That's a good question? It wasn't mentioned in OS4.1 spec. What do you think ?
I'm thinking PCI. If I want to step backwards to a previous OS version, then a simple switch in UBoot lets this happen. Hey, I don't know! I asking for expert opinions on this issue; I think you qualify as OS4 expert! :)
I've sent Kurt Grach at RevancheLLC.com an Email about OS4 updates and GFX cards and heard nothing. It really bugs me that there's no "live" dealer in the whole US. That's amazing! Maybe the Amiga is really dead, at least in the Americas! Some else just tried Softhut.com and got nothing. Anybody else?
Pass!!! Slipped Disk Inc.(Madison Heights, MI) was the only dealer I knew of for Amiga years ago. When they closed that was it for Michigan. Paul Zager and myself are the only two A1s I know of in the whole state. (If there are any others please speakup!) Paul and I got our A1s from next door Ohio -- Compuquick. I have tried to contact Rhandir Jesrhani and see if there still in business, but no replies. Totally dead the Great Lakes region of the U.S. AFAIK.
Hi @AmiKit Dont worry- the Amiga is not dead in the States. I don't know about that. Ask Ken Wilde(sundown) about AmiWest2007. I had the impression it failed to attract any big crowds. Even Compuquick hasn't been showing up like it's done in the past. AmiKit for PCs via WinUAE might very popular in the US, but real hardwired Amigans are far and few between.
edit: Oops, I went and did it again! Confusing Amigakit and AmiKit. Doh! OK, I'm thinking about it ... it doesn't change anything!
As he has already stated elsewhere, he has a backlog of work atm and expects more free time later this month. Also, he is preparing for the LICA Amiga meeting tomorrow evening, which also requires some forethought.
Softhut, Kurt, and others are in the same bind as everyone else. Without a package of OS4.1 WITH hardware to run it on, the chances of generating more activity from the dealers OR adding new dealers is almost a moot point.
Re:Amiwest
This must be user driven. Don't expect Amiwest organizers to blanket amigaland with requests for attendees. If you know of someone who you think would help increase attendance by their presence, write to them and to Amiwest organizers. Simple as that.
Thanks for the info.Yeh, I guess Kurt would be in a backlog of repairs.
Some new members at YahooGroups were wanting to know how to contact US dealears. I don't know anymore. Some dealers tried without any replies: ForeFront Technologies, RaymondComp, Compuquick SoftHut, Mr Hardware, and Revanchellc.
With all of that, I have to say Amigakit is my resource now. Demographically, Amiga is dead in the US. Can I print that in the New York Times?
