AOS4.1, Pricey?

I see a few people commenting that AOS4.1 is kind of expensive.

NO IT ISN'T!

What has Hyperion sold in the last 6 years?

We got AOS4.0 final and an update. They, had they made anything, it's LONG GONE!

BUT, look at how many possible customers they have!!!

It's not many AmigaOnes and micros. Then there's very few Amiga accelerator owners kicking around to sell AOS4.0 to.

How much do you think lawyers cost? Now look at what's happening in the legal battle! IF they settle out of court neither side can or will be compensated for their court costs!!!!

Amiga Inc. Del. has done devastating damage to Hyperion and the coders we all know and love!

Also, the Amiga dealers, it would be putting it mildly to say they're limping along. They need some built in revenue too.

Technically, (not that I agree for ONE SECOND), Amiga Inc. Del. gets $20 of that too!

So, if you support the efforts of Hyperion Entertainment and all of the figures standing behind it you will more than happily, sign that check or press that Paypal icon and transact with them.

It's in all of our best interests, even if you're only doing it for greedy or selfish purposes (like me )!!!!

Maybe everyone should withhold that $20 in protest so Amiga Inc doesn't get it.

I admit Hyperion deserve the part they are getting paid for the work but for Amiga Inc to get $20 and the UK government to get its 17.5% for doing nowt is disgusting. That is what is pushing up the price.

Anyone know where a VAT free copy can be bought !

I wouldn't mind paying Hyperion directly for their efforts without all the other parasites demanding their cut.

Hi BillE,

No kidding. Government bulging at the seams with how much they spend. So much graft out there!

Computers are thousands and millions of times faster than 1980 and red tape keeps INCREASING the amount of employees they need? They make errors beyond comprehension and nothing is EVER processed FASTER!

It was possible in 1999 to get a passport in 24 hrs, BUT to replace a Canadian Citizenship card it takes 6 months!

They SHOULD be able to make a passport in 1 hour, and they even send you looking to take a picture!

A person escaped from prison here in British Columbia, Canada by saying he was someone else!!!!!!!! (Just last week!) And it was a high security prison, not one of those "don't cross the paper tape line", charades.

Anyhow, back on topic:

Also, we have a VERY HIGH DEGREE of feedback from the coders themselves!

Is it arguable that we may have one of the best customer support deals going on in the industry???

Try THAT with ms, macOS etc. And linux, it's so bloated and the coders are so distributed working on UMPTEEN versions of the IDENTICAL(???) OS it's rediculous!

No, they're not charging enough..... because,.... it's going to a lawyer, Mr. Kinsel.... who is in fact doing an exceptional job trying to get Hyperion what they actually own, back to them. Hey, check out the size of AI's law firm!!

Amiga Inc. Del., the clowns, are totally to blame in all of this.

Bite the bullet. Go for a box and printed manual. (Printing a book isn't cheap.)

While just starring at the pure numbers it might look pricey, of course it
isn't!

Being a member of the OS4 dev team I can assure you and anyone
else that many people have done an incredible amount of work on
OS4.1 since release of the last 4.0 update.

I saw many cry about too less new features, but all of them don't
know how much effort was needed to get some of those features
working or how many bugfixes (from simple to highly complex) were
made in the meantime. And just have a look at the feature list of 4.1:
There are really incredible new features.. JXFS is the best filesystem
available for AmigaOS since ever, we get hardware accelerated
compositing which opens the world not only to eyecandy but to many
other serious things, the most powerfull DOS since its first version
(64bit, notifications, etc.), we get a real Cairo port which is needed
for almost every application the users are crying for since ages
(e.g. Firefox), etc. etc. etc.

And last not least: nobody should forget there are only a handfull of
Amiga users left, so you can't just make it extremely cheap and get
your revenue out of the pure quantity of sales.

So i would like to invite every doubter to visit one of the upcoming
events where OS4.1 will be shown in action (e.g. Pianeta or Colmar)
and i would highly recommend to have enough money in the wallet
to buy OS4.1 straight on that event as i'm certain OS4.1 will covince
90% of those doubter.. (the other 10% being the trolls who just can't
even get convinced about the sky being blue )

Looking at the price it seems a bit high but it is a hobby OS and hobbies can be much more pricey than Amiga.
Considering how many people is involved and how much time is spent it seems like a fair price.

Just ordered it btw.

[EDIT] And I encourage everyone else to show their support. Get OS4.1 as soon as you can and help ensure further development.

I don't think it's expensive; it's coming up the money! Washington D.C. is broken...State of Michigan is at the bottom of the pile. The DNC and RNC are busy convincing you 'THEY' are new managers to save the U.S.!
I'm postponing the $200+ HW&SW upgrade.
