Ok Guys, could you please convince me to spend money on a new SAM board. Is it really worth to buy one or maybe better to wait until Hyperion release a port of AOS4.1 for PS3. Well, probably it will never happen isn't?

I need to be conviced, it will give me a courage to convice my missus. :)

I have an A1 since years (earlybird). I still prefer to work with it, but you can't get it anymore.
I must say that SAM is a real charm, you could think of an A1200 against an A4000 ?
If you still have only a classic Amiga (even PPC) it's time to upgrade !

I upgraded from A1200BPPC to Sam and you are absolutely right.

Best money I've spent in a long time.

One thing is for sure. It's a lovely little board. I have one and I love it. It's fast (in Amiga terms - response times and such), silent and a great size. It's my always-on computer that I go to to read mail, browse, IRC and a bit of movie playback. It's also just a nice change after being forced to use obnoxious systems at work.

Sure, AmigaOS isn't perfect (no OS is) nor is it quite up there in terms of features, but it's really enjoyable and I guess this is the most important thing : I actually look forward to coming home and using my computer. Just like when I got my first Amigas (and C64s for that matter).

I used to have a micro and that was nice (but unstable), but Sam feels much more responsive in everyday use.

Ok, I had microA1 -sold it, then PegasosII- sold it too.

I know both systems (MOS and AOS),and I want to go back to Amiga feeling, but SAM440ep price is a bit too high. I will go for SAM Flex option. I have Radeon 9250 128Mb PCI card co I can use it with SAM Flex. What do you guys think about that?

Sounds like a smart move. I didn't have the patience to wait for the flex board

Hyperion will *never* release OS4 for PS3, because it (graphics) will be far too slow. For that you can blame Sony keeping full control of the PS3 hardware under their lock & key.

Sam440 is the only available hardware to run OS4 for the foreseeable future. Whether it meets your needs, I cannot say, but it is the only choice for OS4, and most people seem happy with it.
