SAM440ep in A1200 case... updated

Read a bit about laptop screens last night and am ready to give up on that idea. Seems like a no go.

Acube pls. give us a laptop

Might ask the makers of the laptop if there can be possible to make a converter to dvi/vga connector. Else you might try manually to make one. Someone should make a amiga laptop. Would be really cool.

Just read the SAM manual on Acubes site. Seems the SAM board already have LVDS socket onboard, or if I'm really unlucky it's just prepared for it.

What is this lvds connector? Never heard of.

Laptop screens seems to connect via LVDS which might be onboard the SAM.

Only the earlier boards have the LVDS connector. I had a little chat about this with Rigo during MagBash. Rigo's board also has soldered on Ram making it lower profile than the newer ones. I've been meaning to get in contact and ask what he found out from Max at Acube.

I think it could be done with a nice professional looking case like the daddy did with Minimig, but you'd probably be looking at around ?1000 if all the parts were new, it would be quite an undertaking and a fair ammount of money would be needed to get the project off the ground.

Unfortunatelly, I'm still wating for my SAM440EP board. However, in mean time I had all components required to have my new Amiga system to be fully operational. More pictures soon... :)

My first thought was to put the SAM board inside an A600 (which I guess should be doable).

I then bought 2 A600 and while playing around with them I cam e to the conclusion that i could not live with the keyboard an A600/1200 has got anymore.

Then i thought of a new keyboard and then I picked up the laptops and...

I really want a portable Amiga!

I had thought others would have done a conversion by now, thats part of the reason I have waited buying a SAM. Guess it's either not doable or to hard/expensive to bother.

I will just think about the project for now and then see whats doable and available in February when I'm back from holiday in Bali
