AmigaOne Debian Etch Kernel Panic
Just popping in

I've just downloaded (from Ross Vumbaca's site) an Etch install ISO for debian etch - I get a kernel panic - any ideas ?
PS: I know I've not given any detail of the diagnostic info, but I'll post back here in a bit.

a bit of diagnostic - the last few lines could be the tell tale:

Quote:

RAMDISK: compressed image found at block 0
RAMDISK: incomplete write (-28 != 32768) 4194304
crc error
No filesystem could mount root, tried: ext3 ext2 iso9660
Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFG: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(3,3)
<0>Rebooting in 180 seconds..

any ideas ? could it be the archive tool didnt know the destination size is a pointer that its been incorrectly uncompressed - hence the crc error ?

One possibility to check first is that either the ISO is corrupt or wasn't downloaded/burnt correctly.

A very quick Google query (my lunch is about ready) brings up something interesting. Although it's Debian Lenny (but Etch gets a mention), it seems similar:

hmm. This seems to be saying there might be a problem relating to that version of kernel that came in the install iso image. I'll try re-d'l'ing it, and see what happens.

Any one else tried this iso ?

Nope, This etch install comes up with 'Bad Magic Number' when I boot from UBoot.
