Interest for Payback on OS4?

Of course it can't magically fix bugs in old software, which may not have caused (that much) problems on AmigaOS 3.x but are only caught by AmigaOS 4.x, but that's exactly the same as with bugs in m68k software: For example is the a problem with the WarpOS version of Paypack which doesn't happen with the m68k version on AmigaOS 4.x? I emailed the author some time ago.
He's not interested in fixing it or doing an OS4 version.

Do you think it would require much work to run on OS4.1? SAMs and OS4.1 seem to be popping up everywhere so he might get a fair few sales out of it, I'd certainly buy it again!

I am not sure if Payback runs on my OS4.0 Final.
Payback is a good car-street-kill game and I played it
when I have OS4#update4 installed the demo only.

Why not to port or make a patch to run on OS4.1?

I am happy to say I ordered AmigaOS4.1 for AmigaOne
to AmigaKit this week.

Just would like to say that I have just made and send a 1.5 hour mail in english for James about Payback PPC problems or AOS4.x PPC amigas.

I have given explanations about problems with PPC version and invite him to read thread here, talking about amidevccp (surely interesting for PC user) and others stuff.

Now the hope is to see an answer from him.

- He could not answer or just said sorry
- Promise to look just amidevCCP or install winUAE or just try to found his old amiga sources.
- Maybe will try to do something but no fre time.

Better

- Ask help and need betatesters with PAYBACK on AOS4 and would like to pass some hour for fixing Payback for PPC aos4x amiga.

In case he will subscribe here and answer direclty, give to him a good first message reaction

For me my PPC classic still works so I can have a go from time to time.
As for the changes I don't know.
Maybe James could release the source code so it could be fixed and ported to AOS4, MOS, AROS etc too. Perhaps a bounty to get the guy a SAM ?

Sounds like a plan, although he'd have to want to do it of course, before we set-up said bounty.

I can't see the sourcecode being released though, the game is too recent and too important on the Amiga platform.

Does anyone have regular contact with the author?

My Amiga's pretty much defunct now and I don't want to release the source just yet as that would devalue the newer versions of the game. I may release it at some point though.

I hope AmiDevCpp is good for him and will help James to fix the grim reaper, maybe add sound of warp version. We must now hope James will be made something fo the amiga community Thanks to James in advance....

Thats a nice answer and one I am very happy with.

Its not saying he wont do an update at some stage in the future but he has other priorities at this time and no Amiga hardware.

Bounty, Nah, he simply wants to do it one ste at a time. So If he s busy doing it for the Iphone, then after that He will probably do it for Amiga Sam440ep running os4.1.

As there are a substantial amount of users(amiga wise) already, considering the fct that the hardware is expensive.

If it were cheaper, we would have even more users.
