i have a project called sge2d, based on a gnu environment (make, gcc) that i want to port to os4
last time i programmed on amiga, i used the geekgadgets environment, so i assume that one is os3 only?
what is the best way to do this on os4, sofar i found a link to gcc crosscompiler under unix, but it requires the os4 sdk from hyperion, which seems not to be available anymore :(
Right now Hyperion Entertainment's website is down. When it is back online, it should be possible to download the SDK again. The SDK comes with GCC and make, so you should have no trouble getting started.
Now I have the SAM up and running, is there another SDK for it? I have yet to reg the serial number for AmigaOS 4.1 which came with the SAM MB.
Damn, that'll mean I'm reg for classic, A1 and soon to be the SAM...
:D

I thought as much but had to ask, thanks for the verification

He'll either love you for it or live with it, either way there's no denying how vauable you've been to the OS4 community, so well done there also...
a small enquiry, how (if any) has your progress into the circlemud (complete) porting proceeded?
I recall quite a while back I had enquried about a possible release of diffs for it and had to settle for no response, I could probably generate the diffs between the code release and the offical release (although my skills in this area are rusty for the moment) but sort some sort of conversing as a result...
anyway, no harm done, just a query, thanks for listening

Probably some sort of infringement/copyright clause. Your suggestion seems way to obvious to have been overlooked for so long. Unless perhaps in the very early days storage space at OS4Depot was a consideration or the idea the host site would ever go down was unimaginable *ponder*

This is true, I'd say quite a few of us have got the original archives but this must be the case otherwise someone would have uploaded it ages ago

Too bad that some new amigadevelopers, who just have their SAM, can't access to this SDK, for starting programming for the Amiga
I am not too sure if that is true anymore. I have just run AmiUpdate, and for the first time I was asked if I would like AmiUpdate like to maintain my SDK installation. Having replied yes, off it went and updated quite a few components.
infringement/copyright on a SDK is crazy, how else is an SDK to improve ? depending on one company to do it all is why were in the developer docs mess.
Commodor didnt learn, how foolish, now we just repeating it..

uhh.... yea... that was a long time ago, catch me on irc or mail me... i dont have those sources anymore.. but we could look at the latest version together if you want to.
I dont think the existing public SDK works with the Sam. I remember having problems with make and g++, it just reapered. They fixed it and I downloaded it from a private Sam beta FTP, but I think a new public release is needed. Maybe someone from Hyperion could comment here..
Actually, its annoying expecting developers to trawl websites looking for questions to answer, so I'll email Hyperion when I get home in a few hours.
EDIT: I got a reply back. Apparently the public SDK works fine with the Sam.
Wasn't meaning that was the actual case just supplying a potential answer for why you could only source the SDK from the big H only. Of course, if you're merely commenting on the potentially reality of that possibility then no harm done and I'd probably agree too... but after breakfast :D
