someone give me an exact syntax/instructions regarding any available client uploaded on OS4Depot so in the end I actually start recieving this torrent
I am using a SAM under 4.1
thank you!
A little history; I have never ever once used a torrent and these uploads contain no examples that I could find
I used my google experience to find 4.3 on rapidshare simply so I could play around with it but it's probably 6 months older...

1. Go to the main page http://www.aidtracker.com 2. Using Ibrowse, right-click over the required link "Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v4.40" 3. Select download, and save it to your hard drive. 4. Run ctorrent, and select your downloaded torrent file.
The required auto-installer will be downloaded to your system.
A torrent client such as ctorrent, uses a torrent file e.g. Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v4.40.Xbox-Hq.torrent, to download the actual file (Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v4.40) that you want.

Thank you very much Swoop, I did create a dummy file of 0 bytes with the right name I believe but now I see that the ctorrent program needs the details contained in that small download (the jibberish you see in your browser when you double click on it)

Too early to tell; 10:51am here and I'm at work, won't know for another 6 hours
Any other insights are still welcome, what might work for one may not for another?

If you never used torrent, it is a VERY good idea to use ctorrent because it comes with a gui and as someone told you, you have just to choose to select your torrent file.
I just wanted to warn you about something. When you find a torrent on a site, take careful to that : Is the site a public or private tracker ?
If public, nothing to do more that you already do.
In the other case, you must registrate on the site to have a login and a password. You must be connected to the site before loading the torrent from that site. So the site recognised you and authorized you to retrieve your files.
Note that you have a router, you can warm reset and relaunch the ctorrent gui without connecting before to the site because your router is still connected !!!
Hope you understand all what I was trying to explain. :)
Good suggestions and welcome imformation! have a beer on me on Friday night!

Small update, got it going, my first torrent! and woha, average speed was 400k/s I didn't think that was too bad
but ctorrent with gui didn't work, kept returning that it couldn't bind to it or something then a line about listening on 0,0,0,2764 or there abouts
I downloaded transmission with a gui and that worked flawlessly
again, thanks for getting me started

After the first grim reaper I increased the icon stack to 100000 however this didn't make any difference... it happens as follows:
I select the torrent and after it displays some information about it and the contents of the file to be downloaded it proceeds to convey:
Total: 1404 MB Directory: Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v4.40.Xbox-Hq warn. couldn't set bit field refer file "1:DL/Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v4.40.xb This is normal if you are seeding. Listening on 0.0.0.0:2706
The GR appears:
Guru Meditation: 80000003 Task 0x5bbddc60 ("ctorrent"} generated an error of type DSI (Data Storage Interrupt) on address 0x6fb4c7a8 Redzone was not damaged Stackpointer is inside bounds
I haven't tried higher stacks than 100,000 but that should be plenty anyway?
1:DL/ is my download partition
I suspect in that warn line it cu off at xb is because the window displayed isn't wide enough?
hope that helps?

The warning is harmless. The line is cut there as you suggested.
The dsi is known issue. Just ignore dsi errors and it will proceed as normal. Stack rize won't help. The file will be downloaded where the xtorrent exe file is located if you didn't know. The .torrent file can be put anywhere.
As Antique said, the message which tells that it can't be tied to port 2703 is not important.
It just tells you that the port number will be other that 2703. In ctorrent, the ports used are 2700-2800 or something like that. So I can suggest you to forward your ports so the speed will be greater. To do that, go into the prefs of your router and go to forwarding ports. If you don't know, search in your router docs or in internet (for example look in http://www.portforward.com/)
Generally, the speed I have is between 2 and 400 K/s. It depends on the number of seeders, leechers, your speed connection, the port fowarding... Never know...
PS: Yesterday, I didn't drink beers but some glasses of punch...
No,you need to have the exe file where you want the files downloaded. The .torrent files can be anywhere you like. But you're excused as you're old today
Probably a silly question, but wanted to ask if you are/were using Transmission for your torrent downloads or another program that runs on Amiga system.
If it is another program, please give me the programs name
