IDE to SATA?

Hi All,

Has anyone tried one of those "IDE header to Sata" device converters? I'm thinking of a card reader that has a hot swap SATA port for my A1XE.

Yup. I have it in my A4000 - it allows me to have a DL DVD+RW writer on the internal IDE! Cost 99p on eBay.

I tried it on my A1's Sil0680 card - didn't like that. Also on my A1XE onboard (unfixed) IDE - worked better on that.

It seems a little temperamental, but well worth the ?4 including postage it cost!

Actually I'm thinking the other way around as Spirantho has on his system. The idea is to be able to hot swap SATA drives using the A1XEs IDE controller.

Thanks to Spirantho for the good info as I was going to use it on the A1 header and have all the other HDs on the Sil card.

I would if I was not out of PCI slots. There is only one SATA port on the A.C. Ryan reader I'm looking at.
