Enter the early startup menu. Do you see your disk in the possible boot sources?

It sounds like you need to set the boot source in the Amiga Multiboot settings of UBoot.

This is accessible from the preferences menu when the system starts up.

Yes, this happened to me when I first installed my new SAM with the accompanying 4.1

My experience with an AmigaOne was good assistance here.

I changed the booting value in 2 of the menus I believe but 1 is probably the most important.

also, once your workbench appears please enter a shell and type:

nvsetvar sii3114ide_xfer G00G

then reset immediately

This will prep your devices attached.

If you like and you know where your drives are you can set it to GOOG

which on the SAM would be set best udma mode for unit 0 and best udma mode for unit 3

Harddrive and DVDRW respectively

mine is set to GGOG since I have two harddrives attached.

Hope that doesn't confuse you

p.s. sorry if you don't own a SAM but are using something else... sii3114ide in the above command will have to be replaced with your equvialent

Note that these are "zero" not "O".

Yes i have had the system fully working then i started to mess to try and get the system to boot from cd rom now my hdd wont boot, even if the slb was not present on my hdd why wont the cd boot past the kickstart screen??
I am comming close to pulling my battery out and flushing the uboot and trieing from scratch.
I can redirect the uboot out put to serial but whast good will that do, can i connect that to my pc and capture the output or something?

Please take a look at the installation guide I have done.

You can download it HERE

There's some hints at the end of this giude

For example, in order to force U-Boot to use harddisk or optical type of peripheral, you can set a specific variable :
sete sii3114ide_conf 1002

'1' is used for harddisk, '2' for optical devices and '0' for nothing.

Also, please not that harrdisk should be connected to the J20 connector of the motherboard and the optical drive shoubd be connected to the J23 connector.

Hope it will help ;)
