AmigaOne PCI cards in SAM PCI Slot
Quite a regular

See User information
Since I obtained a SATA to IDE converter (yes, it was the right one and the right direction) and neither of my SATA DVDRWs were recognised...

I'm sure another brand/model (I recall someone here was using a manhatten on there A1) might work but that's enough of that route at the moment

My interest has once again returned the dead (I mean sleeping) A1. Should I try to put the PCI IDE Card (the number escapes me) from the A1 into the SAM? It has two grooves so should work (won't kill SAM MB) and of course the driver already exists in kickstart...

has anyone done this?

I want to try and burn DVD-Rs to one of my IDE DVDRW and see how we go...

do not ask why, just tell me if you know it'll work

Thankyouverymuchly

and while we are at it, why not list anything PCI that you have tried that does work in your SAM... if anyone has a flex, kindly note that

I can say that the Win/TV HVR-1300 works in the Sam, but that's all I've tried!

I'm confused though.. why, if your DVDRW drives are SATA, do you need an adaptor at all?

Given the limited expansion of the SAM I'd strongly suggest not using any adaptors at all - the Sii3114 on the Sam is quite fast enough (90MB/Sec on my system!)
An Sii0680 should work in the Sam, though, if you really need to.

I'm of that mind too but I just want to check, since I had to wait so long for the SAM MB I really don't want anything to go wrong.

And I did say not to ask why

Speed on the SATA harddrive to harddrive etc is WAY FAST. The problem lies when burning to SATA DVDRW, IMHO it is WAY TOO SLOW and I've tried 2 x brand new DVDRW Drives 20x and 22x and both same result... 2x or 3x burning speed on AmiDVD for example and AmiDVD burns quicker than FryingPan.

One matter of interest here is MakeCD is lightning fast on CDRoms. I can burn a complete 80 min CDRom in 2mins and 30secs... so why can't I burn a DVD-R in like 6 x 2mins/30secs... isn't that like around 15mins?

Compared to how fast I could burn DVD-Rs on the AmigaOne via PCI IDE on any of my IDE DVDRW its just Bizarre.

Now you understand? Hope you appreciate the elaboration
