Centaurz just released a first version of the smartbutton docky

http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... cky/smartbutton-docky.lha

Smartbutton.docky is an enhanced button docky for AmiDock.

Original features include :
- launching of programs in Workbench or CLI mode (useful for programs not
supporting Workbench arguments passing)
- displaying of a description field (with scrolling)
- "mouse-over" state
- common preferences shared by all the buttons in a dock
- build mode to allow fast edition of the button using drag'n'drop and clickable
texts

Smartsubdock.docky has the same features as smartbutton.docky except that it is
used to control a subdock.
- subdocks are placed automatically and follow their parent dock
- "trees" of subdocks behave like real menus

You were fast, I was about to start a thread on this .

Edit: BTW, for those having hearing problems, smartbutton.docky is not the docky version of the fart button.

One of the stated features is a mouse-over state.

Is there a way to set an alternate image for this mouse-over state?

this would be a nice idea, actually I use
MacLikeDocky to have small images that are displayed
big when the mouse is over.

Yes this is planned for image files (not for icons). Actually, smartbutton.docky used to load automatically "selected" and "ghosted" states bitmaps using the AISS naming scheme ("myimage_s" and "myimage_g"), but ATM it's deactivated due to a rewrite of the image rendering.
So a "highlighted" state image could be added as well, using for example "myimage_h" as file name. The only requirement is to have such images available.

Edit: fixed weird wording

absolutely brillian!!
much much better than the original subdocky.

one suggestion: maje the text field optional if an icon/picture is displayed in the smartsubdock so that it looks like the other dock elements.

Sure, an image-only mode would be good.

The new version works well. Now all we need are those highlight-state images from Mason.

This new version features an improved "build mode", as well as a small GUI to configure global parameters (menu-related). For example it is now possible to orientate new subdocks perpendicular to their parent, to build "staircase-like" menus (to be honest, I don't know if it is useful ).

I just found a few 3-state images from Mason's past work that we can start to play with for now.

I just found a bug.

When the orientation of the dock is Vertical, then a bit of the Title still shows even if the Title is turned off.

Edit:
And one more bug:
The highlight-state is lost after a restart or after AmiDock has been iconified.

Edit 2:
Another thing that is lost after a restart or iconify is the "Run mode" (it always reverts back to "Workbench").

Thanks for notifying this. I fixed the second bug.
Could you please send me a screenshot of the first one (amicentaurz at club dot fr) ? I can't reproduce it.

Thanks for the new version 50.5; and thanks to Mason for all of the new images (and icons).

Has anyone had success importing Mason's subdock settings? When I try, I get an error message saying: "Unable to import subdock. File may be damaged."
