That makes two of us. Having just had a bit of a play with it, I'm a little lost but I don't think it will take too long to get the hang of the basics. Is there a pixel-based drawing tool? The fancy brush stuff is great for arty things, but editing images at a pixel level - or at least with a sharp edge - is quite often what I need. I whacked the pencil tool up to maximum pressure and minimum size, but is there an easier way? .
Hi Chris I'm afraid not, as far as I know I use either the pencil tool or the Airbrush set to size 1+ max pressure, of course you can reduce the pressure to get a faint/tinted line, its works ok ( all the crimbo avatars are modded using photogenics)
This Puny World will bow down to Professor Chaos Prepare for the greatest Villan you have ever seen!!
I've just realised I have PerfectPaint installed. I don't think I've ever used it. Quite how that got overlooked on every image editing task I'll never know.
(I still haven't used it because I'm missing libraries which I can't be bothered to locate)
@Antique I'm interested to know how stable the latest version of Photogenics is on OS4.1. Older versions had a reputation for being unstable (on OS3, let-alone with OS4's more stringent checks & new memory manager!).
I only use it to rezise images. It hangs randomly when i open the resize window. Sometimes often, other times i can change many pictures before it stops. I haven't used it for other things so can't really comment on that. But it does what i want it to after some resets.
Using Photogenics only for image resizing is a bit of an overkill, isn't it? If resizing and/or cropping images is all you need, why not try WarpView? It is OS4 native, cheap, and works very well.
@trixie How good is the resizing of WarpView? Most programs do really crappy resizing, leaving "jaggies" & other artefacts. In the past (on OS3) I have used ImageStudio & ArtEffects3 (one does enlargement better, one does shrinking better, I forget which way round).
What version did you get when you bought Photogenics a few years back?
Version 4.1?
Also, I noticed the link, one can only download the program, do you think one could ask to have it on disc media? Then again, I suppose the disc media wouldnt be anything special in this case, apart from a burnt copy of the downloadable?
Cheers.

It's quite OK, actually. You can select from four different resampling methods (the best being the default), and the resizing quality is definitely sufficient for preparing web graphics.
While a complete graphics suite like Photogenics or ArtEffect is surely a more universal tool, on the PC I found myself needing just IrfanView most of the time. That's why I came with the WarpView suggestion - works for me.
(Not mentioning the fact that by paying the humble $20 you support an active Amiga developer.)
Hi Gebrochen I'm sure it is Version 5, being such a small executable,I sure it would be a waste of a CD You could E-mail Paul at paul@idruna.com for conformation
