It works in the latest binaries. Thanks for the link.

Taking your suggestion about adding a line to contextmenus.cfg to get Filer to open with a path to the active Workbench window, I noticed that Filer has a problem starting through CLI at a specified path if that path is enclosed in quotation marks (which ContextMenus does automatically when %d is used).

Thanks for the WbRun tip - works very well! Exactly what I wanted (well half of it anyway:)

@orgin
Thanks for the hint about the ContextMenus commodity - I didn't know it existed, but it's really nice :) . In case it helps anyone, this is the line that I added to envarc:ContextMenus.cfg :

Drawer,Open in Filer,CLI,Programs:Workbench/Filer/Filer %o
(EDIT: I thought it worked, but it seems to have stopped working now.)

Of course, change it match where you stored Filer. I also tried adding this line, but it does not work for some reason:

Directory,Open in Filer,CLI,Programs:Workbench/Filer/Filer %d

BTW, something which I am sure must be on your to-do list is allowing reordering the columns. In DOpus5 I had Size as the very first column, and I try to get Vista to do it too (but it doesn't always like doing what you tell it).

Could you post the rgb values for you os4.1 like colors? I'm going to add a few default selections to the prefs program.

I've updated the command line handling:
http://orgin.biz/~orgin/filer

The locale files aren't updated though so to use these binaries you'll probably have to remove the filer locale files and reboot after installing. (If you're currently using the locale files that is)

Yes, it now works for me too! Here are the correct lines for the prefs file:
Drawer,Open in Filer,CLI,Programs:Workbench/Filer/Filer %f
Directory,Open in Filer,CLI,Programs:Workbench/Filer/Filer %f

The first line allows you to open the current folder (window) in Filer, while the second line allows you to open a visible drawer (icon) in Filer.

Hmm are you sure those are the colors you use? According to that your directory and assign colors are white.

Anyway I uploaded a prefs with a theme menu with some default themes.

http://orgin.biz/~orgin/filer/

If anyone wants to add a default color theme to the list then post the relevant parts of env:filer.prefs and I'll consider adding them.

(As always, if you want to run these preliminary binaries, first remove the filer locale files and reboot.)

Yes, those colours sound correct. Why would white be a problem?!? Looks quite nice here :P

I would have PREFERED for the text colour to change when highlighted (ala Workbench), as that would then give me more flexibility on what colours to use for the text (i.e. exactly duplicate Workbench, with blue for directories). But given the current limitations, black & white gave the maximum contrast against the background (grey) & the highlighted background (darkish blue).

I keep forgeting to mention this, but can there be an 'act on icon' option?

Currently if you rename a file it icon sats with the old name, if you delete it the icon remains, (that's what reminded me, seeing an icon in a workbench window for a directory I though I'd deleted )

It would be nice to have an option to duplicate the action on the icon, with appropriate adjustments.

rename foo to bar -> foo.info becomes bar.info
duplicate foo and you duplicate foo.info appropriatly renamed.
delete foo also delete foo.info
copy etc etc

It needs to be an option as there are times when you don't want this behaviour. Also the reverse behaviour should not occur, ie manipulating an icon directly should not affect the associated file.

It might even be useful for it to be switchable on a per lister basis, but maybe that's over complicating things.

It's been on the task list for quite a while now.

"- Add option for "automatic icon handling", which will copy/delete/move/rename icon files automatically "

You can see the list here:

"I would have PREFERED for the text colour to change when highlighted"

Me too, but the current behavior seem to be hard coded into the listbrowser class.
