The question of "how much faster is the Sam 800mhz over the 667mhz" (etc) has made me think it'd be a cool/fun idea to post our Sam, and maybe Peg2/A1 benchmarks. In particular, RockBEAT benchmarks. When you save a song as a WAV, it mixes the instruments and bars, etc, then tells you how much time it took to make it happen.
The saving itself is not optimised yet, as I was concentrating on making it sound and save correct during development..
Lets all follow these steps, and post our benchmarks here:
1. Download the latest RockBEAT:
http://www.os4depot.net/?function=sho ... udio/tracker/rockbeat.lha 2. Download this example project file:
http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com/rockbeat/testsong.rb 3. Open the project in RockBEAT, and once it has loaded, select from the Save pulldown menu.. "Save entire song as one file". Save it anywhere, enter a name such as "test.wav".
4. Paste your final Time Elapsed text in this thread with your CPU information.
I'll start the thread off with my own results:
Sam440ep 667mhz + 512mb RAM
Time taken: 00:03:32
(I'm running a debug kernel.. wonder if it slows things down at all?)

@gurus2000 We have the same hardware, and mine was faster. I suspect it was because I saved mine to hard drive. They say that the RAM disk is marginally slower. Edit: Oh.. apparently not. I dont want to spread mis-information.

@All: Sam440Flex 800Mhz 1Gb RAM with Amiga OS 4.1 + QuickFIX : 00:02:53 When my AmiDARK Engine will be a bit more advanced, I'll prepare a small 3D benchmark for our Amigas :p
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

Looks like G3 is faster than G4 with same clock speed (and same hardware). @Dirk-B Could you add it to your table if testers saved the project to RAM or HD. Also if everybody could tell what kind of hard drive controllers and hard drives you were using if you saved it to the HD.
