AmiCygnix DSI's - SOLVED
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

See User information
I've had good success installing AmiCygnix on my A1-XE and Pegaso II in the past but I have only just tried to install it on my ?A1-C with 512MB RAM.

The installation of the base and tool files appeared to go well but when I try to start any application (eg Netsurf) I get a DSI. If I ignore the DSI the apllication starts up on the AmiCygnix screen. This happens with any application I select, even when I select AmiCygnix shutdown.

Is this a know problem with AmiCygnix on the ?A1-C or is it just finger trouble on my part?

Any help gratefully accepted.

@TrevorDick

It looks like an old problem with some abc-shell binaries. Can you post a Grim Reaper's stack trace here, so I can see the reason of the crashes?

The problem is an old abc-shell binary ("sh"), which is installed somewhere on your system. Old versions do crash when used in AmiCygnix. Minimum version: 53.1. This version is included in the AmiCygnix package.

Try to find this binary. You can open a shell and type "which sh" to find it. Delete it or replace it with the binary in "Cygnix:CygnixPPC/bin".

Hope this helps.

Many thanks, that solved the problem. As you suspected I had an older version of sh installed in my SDK directory. I deleted this and copied the version from AmiCygnix. All now working fine.

Donation on the way!

How can I set 1680*1050 resolution in AmiCygnix ?
When I install it the maximum range was 1280*1024 but with my LCD monitor isn't too usable :-/

You can use "myX11Setup" to change the resolution. Open the screenmode requester in the first line of the myX11Setup window. You should be able to select your desired screenmode there.

Mmm I try different video driver combinations on myX11Setup, setting 1680*1050 as standard resolution:

Picasso96
Picasso96cloneWB
Picasso96pip

But all of them seems unsupported by the driver, 16 or 32 bit seems unsupported at this resolution.

I have a Sam Flex 800 with a Radeon 9250, obviously 1680*1050 res. works very well on the OS 4.1 side

Tried it here. I've created a screenmode for 1680 x 1050 and selected it in myX11Setup. Although I don't have such a large monitor, it worked.
Please keep in mind, that only 16bit modes are supported.

You could try this: Set the environment variable "Cygnix/CYGNIX_SCREEN_MODE" to "picasso96@ask". When you launch AmiCygnix afterwards, a screen requester should appear, where you can select your screenmode.

If this does not work, I have no idea, where your problem is .
