env:

Hello,
Env: shows up in shell commands eg "info" but not in RMB/Open a Drawer/Volumes or in DiskMaster/Root
It shows also up in Gui4cli Directory listvieuws.

What causes this behaviour?

preferences perhaps?

do you have a get volumes button to click on etc, probably show there...

i.e

I just dropped into an Amigashell typed dir env: and got a listing of the contents of env:

Even though I have an ENV created in RAM: via user-startup I don't copy DH0:Prefs/Env-Archive/ to that location... confused? heh

In OS4, there is no Env directory in Ram.
It is a special handler.
This explains that it doesn't appear on the WB.

Also note that you must not access files directly as "Env:myvar" but use "getenv myvar" instead.

I guess the Diskmaster 2 prefs?

I don't have a volumes button, there is a 'root' element in the central listview.
which will show all volumes and assigns except env:

You can edit the prefs, but i wouldn't know how

It's probably because of the way DiskMaster scans the DOS list. Under OS4, ENV: is no more an assign (like ENVARC: is) but a device.

ENV: is a handler, not a filesystem device and does not add itself to the DOSList and/or does not support various FileSystem packets that Workbench needs.
