Where can I find a AmigaDos manual for 4.1? Will a 3.5 work?
Same question for Arexx...?

ARexx on OS4 is identical to that on OS3.x .

AmigaDOS has been improved a bit for OS4, but it is very similar to OS3, so an AmigaDOS book for OS3 would be fine. If you want documentation about any particular AmigaDOS command on OS4, just look in "Sys:Documentation/C".

Are you saying that the OS4.1 Manuals (Workbench, AmigaDos, Arexx)are in this location on a computer with OS 4.0 +..?

No, I am saying that documentation for specific AmigaDOS commands can be found on an OS4.1 partition in Sys:Documentation/C. I have no idea about OS4.0.

If you want a *manual*, you will have to get one for OS3.

Sometimes it was installed during the development of 4.0 sometimes not - but it was always on the CD/ISO.

Confirmed. This directory is on 4.0 or 4.1 CD.

Now if you mean printed manuals, you are joking. OS4 is not a multi-million dollar project.

OS4.1 comes with a *very* nice printed "manual", but it is only a "Quickstart Guide" (about 44 pages)

You can also type "help" for an extensive "manual" on all of the commands.

(you'll need to either fix the executable bit or delete s:arexx/help though)

And then of course there's the nice friendly lightbulb (WBHelp) in your AmiDock ... or just hit the Help (Scroll Lock) key in WB.

(Elwood may be too modest to mention it, but I have no shame ).

In your system drawer is a program called "Help", which gives you details of all shell commands included with the system.

Pick up the best manual, Sheldon Leeman's AmigaDOS Reference Guide covering 3.0. For OS4.x related AmigaDOS stuff, check the documentation drawer on your SYS: partition.

For ARexx, I'd recommend a book called Amiga Intern. It is not ARexx specific, covering the internals of the A3000, 2.04 Libraries, etc.; however, the ARexx coverage in the book is more extensive than the manuals Commodore wrote.

No, but in post #3, diamond mentions all the old manuals, including Workbench, hoping to find them in electronic form on the CD; that's why I thought to mention it.

At least better than what was there previously.

I found this to be a *fantastic* guide to ARexx:

In fact, I wouldn't bother with anything else :)

TY for clarifying what I should have described more thoroughly in my question, but you had no trouble understanding , so I feel that I did communicate even if I expressed myself poorly.
