See, this is one of the things that irks me. Why oh why do people think that because we don't do it, it will never happen? Why do people (especially over at aw.net) behave like we're actively hindering the work on other OSes? The source code for Firefox has been out for YEARS, and yet nobody could get his act together and port it. Why does the fact that we are doing it now change ANYTHING for the other "camps"?
So true ! And I would add that 7 years after the first PPC motherboards are out, people still asks for support on 68k, not realizing that PPC systems bring the same feeling with more pleasure !

It is everyone's choice to use either 68K/OS3 or PPC/OS4. Choose freely whichever you prefer but remember that choosing a platform naturally means taking sides. So if you decide to stay in the past (with OS3) you may as well find yourself left in the past: without new software being available to you.

I am under the impression that the death of OS 4 was almost given for granted by certain individuals and they seem they cannot stand its resurrection and (even worse) the possibility for it to get in perfect shape (not just VS other Amiga-Like platforms but in general).

Today I donated to WxWidgets and eUAE GUI, finally I also donated for gnash (I donated for Timberwolf day one). I didn't notice the "folding" at the bottom and I didn't see Gnash bounty at first (that is why I noticed it today). Maybe it would have been better if active bounties appear on the front page (There aren't many things listed after all). Just a suggestion

As you say, you're only just returning to Amiga, and I'm not sure what your first impressions of the "community" have been like, although I can imagine :)

Hopefully it means cairo_clip() now operates at a useable speed. At the moment if you try to call it more than once per day you end up waiting a millenia for anything to happen.
Maybe someone with access to the latest builds could tell us the effect of this is? Huge speedup, noticable speedup or no visable speedup?
It's not with the beta testers yet. Major speed improvements are solid color composes and composites.
Composites are an obvious speed-up candidate. The solid color composes affect things like text output and path stroking/filling.
Speedups are very noteworthy in some areas and rather minor in others; the surfaces have to be in video ram now so direct access is slower, but in general, speed has improved.
