Hi all,

Was checking out PCI controllers and ran across this one,

Simply check the kickstart and you will find:

sii0680ide.device.kmod
sii3112ide.device.kmod
sii3114ide.device.kmod
sii3512ide.device.kmod

AFAIK that's the controllers supported on PCI boards from AOS4.1 kernel...

Maybe someone can be more precise...

I've just bouht an sii3114 PCI card for my AmigaOne and all that I can say is that it works extremely well.

I've added a 1,5TB Hard Drive connected to the SATA controller. The hard drive is split in 3 partitions (2 SFS2 and 1 JXFS of about 500MB each, thanks Joerg )).

@QuikSanz

The best option for you is to find what are the controllers are on this card (NEC for USB , VIA for IDE and SII for SATA would be great for instance).

I cannot optimize the partitions on the SATA HardDrive, is this normal ?

The close up, read low detail, shows both chips being VIA. could not read any numbers.

Card part # : SD-VIA-1A5E1IR.

That card uses the VIA VT6421A disk controller chipset which is not supported by OS4. I've read people also having problems getting proper support for this card with other operating systems as well.

If you are lloking for something that "should" be souported by OS4 maybe you can find something useful on this thread at AW.net

The ideal solution is a combo card that use NEC usb and siil 3112/3114 chips but they tend to cost a lot.

This would be very nice, an extra PCI slot for a CatWeasel.

That thread does not seem to specifically answer the question of " can it boot from drives attached to it?". I have an XE.

that card in the koutech link looks interesting - it supports USB 2.0 for instance - which begs the question: are we likely to be able to make use of USB 2.0 in the near(ish) future ?
My guess is no - although USB 1.1 is still possible with the OS4 USB stack, AFAICR. Still - would be an improvement on the USB on board XEs for some !

Well from a close look at the pictures and specs, it seems to be a NEC USB controller chip and a Silicon Image SATA chip on the same card. OS4 has drivers for both of these, and UBoot has drivers for SI3112 and SI3512 SATA controllers. If it is one of those you are in luck! You could ask around if there is someone who has one.

I Have noticed that you can only use 1 HDD internally as the second port is external (as a eSATA)

For what I've understood from rogue and others replies seems that it can boot from the card as far as the chip is recognized from the sub pci bridge on the card by uboot but I'm not sure at all.

@Daz

All the cards I've linked have a SI3112 chip for sata and a NEC one for usb 2, I've looked inside the windows drivers they link and I'm pretty sure of this. That's also the reason for the higher price, usually cheaper ones use Via chips for everything and I suspect that this solution don't need an additional pci bridge chip to complicate design and raise the costs
