OWB improvement ideas
Just popping in
Just popping in

See User information
I just wanted to post a couple of ideas here before I raised enhancement requests for them, in case they already exist!

1) Is there a way to switch between tabs using the keyboard? In Cubic IDE I can do it with RAmiga-, and RAmiga-. and in Firefox I can do it with ctrl-pgup and ctrl-pgdown. Very handy!

2) ctrl-f brings the search box up, but is there a hotkey to get rid of it again? In Firefox you can do it with <esc>.

3) If you do a search with ctrl-f then every time after that if you hit ctrl-f again to do another search, the contents of the search box is replaced with the first search. ie.

a) Hit ctrl-f and search for "one"
b) Hit ctrl-f and search for "two"
c) Hit ctrl-f again and "two" is replaced by"one" which is annoying if you want to do another search for "two"

4) The LAmiga-d/lalt-d and ctrl-k hotkeys to highlight the URI and search gadgadgets respectively don't work if one of the gadgets or a text field of a form is already activated.

Before I raise enhancement requests and bugs reports, are these known issues?

Colin.

For improvements, Joerg, why not use the work done by Fab for the MorphOS version to bring new features in the OS4 version. Fab is open and is ok with that, I again talked to him this week-end at the Alchimie show.

It shew us the current state of OWB for MorphOS and it is great. Working together would have a big sense here and it will bring some advantages to everybody.

Did I mention, it urgently needs a download manager? :P

This is the number one urgency in OWB for me personally.

That would be really great so that there wouldnt be double effort. But ofcourse this would mean some work on different GUI systems etc. Maybe both Aros/mos/os4 could in some way work together. i dont know.

Maybe you could write a PM to Joerg, Corto ?

I totally agree with Corto.
The work done so far on the MorphOS port by Fab is awesome.
As well as his demonstration during Alchimie.

The continuous effort of J?rg is great too but every "all-flavour" amigans would benefit from the well-advanced Morphos port without reinventing the wheel (download manager, embedded Flash plugin, password manager, spoofing, etc.)

By the way, thumb up for this new release J?rg

Because I think this not just about OWB, but improving Reaction too.
Any way MorphOS uses a different version of MUI.

Could Ringhio be used to notify a user when a file is finished downloading? A box could pop-up saying "File 'foo.lha' has been downloaded"

If possible would it be hard to do?

Fab hasn't published his latest source code yet. I had a look at his site, and the source archive is from August 2009, several versions ago. To be honest, I don't understand why Amiga OS 4's code is in the official OWB repository, but not the MorphOS code.

The main items that I'd like to have are:
- Download manager
- HTML 5 video/audio tag support

That should be very easy to add, once a download manager exists.

@Antique

Did you also get the code for the media player? It should be in a subdirectory of BAL/Media/

Which OS is this? On OS4's OWB, ramiga+f brings up search. Ctrl+F does nothing.

Quote:

Eh? Ctrl-F does nothing here. ramiga+f brings up a search bar at the bottom. I can then search something, press enter. The bar still stays, ramiga+f just makes the title bar blink black and gives a system beep, since the search/find bar is still open.

Is there some tool being used to enable ctrl to be used as the amiga key?

No,i only got the dowlonad gui stuff it seems like. Haven't had time to look at it yet.

But if there are things you'd like from the mos version, just ask him. I think he will send it to you.

I could, but there isn't much point because I don't have the time to do anything with it. My reason for wanting to look at the code is more out of curiosity. I think that the media player backend could be implemented quite easily using the avcodec.library, but it's up to someone else to make it happen.
