Something else to check ( Or Un-Check) under MISC tab
make sure the Follow Mouse mode is un-checked just in case you slung the Mouse pointer to one side, because thats what its recording
oh and don't foget to change the Codec to Xvid and add a .AVI to your ouput file eg TEST.Avi ( unless your testing the new ZMBV codec)
I normally use DVplayer to View them, maybe I'll try with mplayer ( I use Mplayer GUI its easy) Ok just done a quick test with Mplayer using the GUI and it played no problem.
another quick test with Mplayer, it also plays the file with out the .AVI extension.
I think Pointer is referring to the Mouse Pointer!!
I'm running with a 1280x1024 ARGB32 Screen with Compositing turned off ( On a MicroA1 wh 256mbmb)
Just have a play around with it, hopefully it will work for you
