Hi guys, I can't seem to add new screenmodes through the radeon tooltype anymore. I just wanted to create a 1024x768@75 and 400x300@70 and so on. But they don't show up in prefs after I add them. What am I doing wrong?

Here they are: BOARDTYPE=Radeon CMPLENGTH=6 (BORDERBLANK=Yes) (BIGSPRITE=Yes) (SOFTSPRITE=Yes) IGNOREMASK=Yes (DISPLAYCHAIN=Yes) FAKENATIVEMODES=Yes VSYNCMIN=60 VSYNCMAX=85 HSYNCMIN=31500 HSYNCMAX=64000 MODE=400x300@75 MODE=400x300@70 MODE=400x300@60 MODE=640x480@75 MODE=800x600@72 MODE=1024x768@60 MODE=1024x768@70 MODE=1024x768@75 INTERRUPT=Yes

Quote:
VSYNCMIN=60 VSYNCMAX=85 HSYNCMIN=31500 HSYNCMAX=64000These should be set to the correct values for your monitor (can usually be found on the monitor manufacturer's website).
P96 uses these to filter out modes that your monitor can't handle. If it's a CRT then it might break if it is sent a wrong horisontal and/or vertical frequency, whereas an LCD will just refuse to display it.

I?m not sure about this one, but i remember having a problem too. Could it be that you aren?t allowed to produce more screenmodes of the same kind, even if it differs from hz? I have three modes of every kind here, but they differ from bitness, not from hz BOARDTYPE=Radeon CMPLENGTH=6 (BORDERBLANK=Yes) (BIGSPRITE=Yes) (SOFTSPRITE=Yes) (IGNOREMASK=Yes) (DISPLAYCHAIN=Yes) FAKENATIVEMODES=No INTERRUPT=YES VSYNCMIN=56 VSYNCMAX=75 HSYNCMIN=30000 HSYNCMAX=81000 MODE=320x240@75 MODE=480x300@75 MODE=640x480@75 MODE=800x600@75 MODE=960x600@75 MODE=1024x768@75 MODE=1280x512@75 MODE=1280x1024@75 MODE=1920x1200@60 8Bit, 16Bit and 32Bit modes are produced automatically, but as soon as i start to add let?s say another MODE=1920x1024, regardless what i use as hz it won?t show up, because the first one will be used, all others that are the same will be silently skipped.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I simply can't get this to work... BOARDTYPE=Radeon CMPLENGTH=6 (BORDERBLANK=Yes) (BIGSPRITE=Yes) (SOFTSPRITE=Yes) (IGNOREMASK=Yes) (DISPLAYCHAIN=Yes) FAKENATIVEMODES=Yes VSYNCMIN=56 VSYNCMAX=75 HSYNCMIN=30000 HSYNCMAX=83000 MODE=400x300@75 MODE=640x480@75 MODE=800x600@75 MODE=1024x768@75 MODE=1280x960@75 INTERRUPT=Yes This tooltype only produces 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 - all at 60hz... My monitor is a Acer AL1711, which according to the internet has these specs: 1280x1024@75 and a sync rate of v75 and h83... Where did I go wrong? Really feel that I've tried it all... It's really annoying when my minimac does 1280x960 at 75hz with no problem at all..

@Skov BTW 60 or 75 Hz does not change anything on LCD. But I bet that the frequency is 'a bit more' than just 83000, try to up that to 84000 and test what you get (I saw on Internet that your monitor should have safety controler for unsupported resolution/frequency so you shouldn't burn anything... But of course you are doing all this at your own risk !) Or the other solution if you have access to another computer is to hook your monitor to it and select your desired resolution/frequency, then if you monitor has it open the OSD which gives all the details of the current screen resolution/frequency)
Back to a quiet home... At last

@abalaban Also did you do a fresh install of OS4 final ? If no then you may have an old P96Settings file lying somewhere...

@abalaban Thanks for your help - but sadly... it didn't work... I'm still stuck on 1024x768@60... I did do a clean install and I checked the system. There doesn't seem to be any p96 settings anywhere...

@Skov The last screenmode does not show up because the monitor cannot handle the freuqency, try MODE=1280x960@60 for a start and if it is shown, go up with the frequency to 70. Regardless what your monitor manufacturer states in the manual, you may simply don't have this high frequency rith this resolution within your monitor. Example: I have a monitor where the manual states i can use 1920x1200 with 75hz. But it won't show up unless i drop the freuqency to 70hz. Try it...

@SkovWhere did I go wrong? Really feel that I've tried it all... How did answer to the OS4 install? It's the usual place to screwup by a dumb installer! In linux or OS4 the USER manual references almost always work. 1280x1024 @ 75 won't work because the limit is already at 75. 1280 x1024 @60 works here.

@Skov I have created 1024x768@75 with almost these parameters right now. The only difference was the VSYNCMIN=60. Maybe it worth a try. (I don't know how would that be effect the vsync values, but you can never know.)

Sorry guys! I forgot to tell you that I've solved the problem. I had a back-up Radeon_old in devs as well as the new Radeon file and that caused the problem! All is well and fine now. Thanks for your advice!
