A little too optimistic, I have not done too much in the last two weeks (Hollyday you know) I plan on doing a dot4.device when I get back home first in January.
This dot4 device will be released independed of AOS4.1 U1.
later I will merge it into the usbprinter deivce but this will have too be tested by beta testers and then release in the next aos4 update cycle.
With this request for a dot4.device, you have hardly searched and found a good printer for working on this driver. Thanks a lot for that
I have tried with this request to create a kind of: bounty for hardware : for, the next time, money will be given to you for a USB webcam, USB adapter,..... against little money or more, for allow you to working on Updated sirion drivers for AOS4.x.
Of c ourse, It's not limited to you but maybe also for the USB1 driver author...
I would like also see you said, in the futur: hey, would like to support this USB hardware but don't have one. Just xxx money, some users would like to give money for helping me ???? (and make a bounty for this request).
This is my ideas but question:
- Would you want a bounty for some money for the dot4 printer you have found and some additionnal beers ?????
- The idea: bounty for hardware is a general good ideas for better USB in AOS4.x or not at all ???

Partly what we want is a piece of the roadmap -- what do the developers have targetted for development next (if any) and how can we provide input to that prioritization decision. Where are the areas where we need unified support within existing drivers like HID vs where non-core developers could serve buy creating specific function drivers.
If we know what the planned direction and timeline looks like, then there may be room for bounties or other ways we can influence additional development.

PS: I would totally buy someone a USB UPS to build a good driver for an 'apcupsd' equivalent.
but for this to work you would need a software shutdown feature in the OS. And judging by an old thread (here or on AW.net) there was many people against this idea because a "true Amiga should always be shutdown'able by a simple press on the power button at anytime"...
thanks for taking the time on your holidays to give us a quick update
@Mrodfr
as was mentioned before, the original bounty (USB printers) has already been submitted/suggested and is awaiting approval from rwo etc...I guess once it's approved then people can start donating to it ...we can expand the scope of the bounty i.e scanners, cameras etc if possible and if need be I suppose
Is that a Freudean slip? You know how expensive gold is right now! :)
@abalabalaban
In addition to monitoring, etc, USB control is actually a way to work around the lack of software poweroff capability in the hardware. Just tell the UPS to power off.
how's she looking?..would love to use my USB printer with the new update
With the new update and my printer turned off, I get requesters telling me that the printer is not connected or available every time I start PageStream or a word processor like FinalWriter. I had to revert to the OS 4.1 usbprinter.device to solve the problem.

Are these requesters generated by Pagestream? Or the OS? Regardless, I suggest that you send a bug report to the author of Pagestream. There's no reason for Pagestream to be touching the printer device until you hit the print button.
IMHO, it's correct behaviour for the usbprinter.device to indicate that the printer is unavailable when any attempt is made to open or use a printer that's off or not connected.
@RWO
Good to hear that you're making progress with the driver.
