Has anyone ever tried to convince Clickboom to licence an OS 4 compliant version of Napalm? I think it is a horrible shame, that we cannot play "the greatest amiga game of all times" on our new mahines...
Imho fixing the sources of Napalm to works on os4/mos will be very-very easy. Will be good if someone will get sources.. (i can make a fix for it, in end).
That not so big problems (i know x86 and 68k asm, but dislike asm for today totaly, but still know it). Problems is the source code which i think we will never get :)
I'm betting your e-mail, unfortunately, will have the same end mine did when I was waiting for the "fixed" Nightlong CDs. They made great games, but as a company they left a lot to be desired.
Polishing and so on, possible only with having original sources and with permission from the ClickBoom. For now we not have any real napalm sources. Only what we can, it's use IRA for disassemble the binary, and, in that unstructured-unlabaled mess trying to fix the bugs.. That is possible ( i mean making napalm just runs and works on os4 at this point), but it's pretty huge and time consuming job. It's much-much harder if comparing with having original sources. And of course, it's still will be 68k binary (which maybe not so important because we have emulation layer, but always better to have native bins).
Yes,offcourse you'd need the original sources(which i mentioned in my post). But if those can't be obtained,i'd rather see a new game created instead. Since i think the game needs better, more modern gfx,etc etc etc...
I know what you mean... Still, I'd really like to be able to play Napalm on my Sam, it's a piece of Amiga history, and actually I don't mind the 'oldness' of it.
Well, I was not sure whether or not to do this... But, oh well, here it goes: In danger of being banned from Amigans.net for eternity, I'll now post the "sources" for NAPALM V0.278:
It is tested with phxass and works... But use is entirely at your own risk! And if anyone should object to this being spread and used, I'll remove the upload immediately. Anyway, I really doubt, that anyone is going to want to go through the hazzle of trying to improve this code, I know that I am not for lack of abilities/time/<insert lame excuse here>...
And again: If I have offended anyone by posting this, then 1000xsorry, that wasn't my intention!
Yes thats how disassembled binary looks like, renaming all label (starting whit dc.b "dos.library"), and giving (negative values) LVO_names, is a big job.

Let's say I have a A1-OS4 version that runs perfect and totally awesome! How much would you pay for a registered copy? That's what market is about isn't it?
