So you don't want to interact with your computer in anyway?
The main reason I want USB fixed is so that the mouse and keyboard will not drop out randomly and stop responding to input. I now the hole computer has not crashed as I can still access it using ftp and the clock continues.
For me this is something that really needed to be fixed months ago with a hot fix, but that is just my personal opinion. I can wait on the rest of the updates until they are fully tested but anything has to be better than the current keyboard and mouse support on the sam440's.
I can live with the other graphics corruption and lockup issue as using a debug kernel works round the issue but the USB issue is still a show stopped.... I have tried using a powered USB hub but dose not fix the problem ether.
Sam440ep 667mhz 512megs OS4.1 + Minimig, 4MB RAM, ARM add-on board WinUae 2.3.2, OS 3.9, BB2, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI, mediatorSX, Voodoo3, pci lan
I have absolutly the same opinion as yours. Some problems must be fixed as hot-fix just ASAP, because some problems (like USB problem) are so necessary, and for me it looks strange, why devels just not see that important parts, and prefer to works on something else, before hot-fix so important parts (i hope devels read that post, and will think about in future).
ps2 seems to be working better at the moment but I'm only using USB on my A1 XE since the cool mouse and keyboards are USB only these days. So better USB is very important IMHO.
lately every time I spend more than 2 minutes writing an email with SimpleMail or YAM my system crashes on me....this does'nt occur if I'm using Claws under AmiCygnix??.....I'm hoping the update will fix this
>i didnt know ther was this issue with sam. i use amiga one micro and a "ps2" mouse and keyboard
It isn't just an issue with the SAM. I have A1 XE with USB mouse and ps2 keyboard and since the last update have been getting random lockups too. They never happened before the last update so it must be due to something introduced then.
If you wait long enough the lockups do time out but I find it quicker to reboot the whole system

Something is seriously wrong, not even Sams are this unstable (at least when configured correctly). Try using the debug kernel if you aren't. Otherwise check any recently installed software and/or updated MUI libraries.
ya know Chris i honestly don't want to waste time trouble shooting as I want to just back up my docs and do a fresh install of 'the update' when it finally shows up! In the mean time I have my work notebook located 6 inches below my Amiga so all is well for now

Take a quick look at what version of the TextEditor.mcc MUI library you are using. V15.29 amd v15.30 will cause the crashes. Use either v15.28 or I think there is a version 15.31 is available soemwhere. I went back to v15.28. Both Yam and Simplemail use this editor.
@328gts When I bought my Sam last November I thought too to just wait for the 4.1.1 update, but in the end I updated everything (for the sake of having some quality time with my new Amiga) and my Flex is quite rock solid at the moment. I use a Dell USB keyboard and a Logitech USB optical mouse and they never drop. With all the updates and tweaks the system hardly hangs ever (rather sporadic) so I'm pretty happy with it.
Of course I CAN'T WAIT to get the update as I want to play with Blender!!!! (Broadblues said is basically finished and that he cannot release it as the update is mandatory for it to work).
honestly my Sam has been fairly stable and I've never used the debug kernel..but I am getting annoyed with USB instability as I transfer many files via zip stick and portableHD.....as for USB keyboard and mouse hang ups I cannot comment as I have never had these issues
@Rigo..you said very soon a while back now......please give us an update mate
