With the forthcoming X1000, does anyone know how many SAM's have been sold since lauch? Are we talking 1,000 or more like 10,000? I cannot imagine more than the latter and think the figure is probably about 5,000.
Maybe someone from AmigaKit can state a ball park figure for how many they have sold since launch?
Sold up all my Amiga gear, not only an Amigan via Amiga Forever!
Big Snip how many SAM's have been sold since lauch
Err all of them, apart from any that were given away
Sorry don't know the answer your really looking for but I would think in the 750-1500 range, hopefully more, the only people who can say for sure are A-Cube but that's their business.and of course they are still selling might have too get a flex myself and aX1000, my A1 and Micro are getting old
This Puny World will bow down to Professor Chaos Prepare for the greatest Villan you have ever seen!!
Some of us have brought 2 systems but it wouldn't add up to much more
~Yes I am a Kiwi, No, I did not appear as an extra in 'Lord of the Rings'~ 1x AmigaOne X5000 2.0GHz 2gM RadeonR9280X AOS4.x 3x AmigaOne X1000 1.8GHz 2gM RadeonHD7970 AOS4.x
@tommo1975 Difficult to say how many have been sold. Early on there were supply problems (due to lack of enough CPUs). Later we have everyone & his dog (seemingly) suggesting they were too slow (at least on AW.net), despite they're actually quite nice machines. And we are *still* stuck with a beta version of OS4.1 . Overall not a good reciepy for strong sales :-/
Probably the best we can say is "over 500" to OS4 users. Maybe they reached 1000, who knows?
I hope with Update 1 coming sooooon (honest guv), and X1000 showing that better machines cost rather more (probably), and Firefox & Blender ports coming, that we will actually see a lot more Sam440 sales this year (from "fence sitters").

To improve SAM sales, the price of the X1000 had better be much higher than that of a complete SAM system. If the difference were mere 300-400 dollars, I guess people would rather go for the X1000 because it offers a completely different level of performance.
@trixie A complete 733Mhz Sam440 costs ?700 from AmigaKit. I expect the X1000 to cost somewhere in the region of ?1000 to ?1500 (and thus 50% to 100% more expensive than a Sam440).

this is what Hyperion hinted to when they said that the Sam will take care of the low end of the market and X1000 to the high end...I think the X1000 will be at least 75 to 100% more than the full Sam system
I find that highly unlikely, the most likely scenario is that there will be numerous 2nd hand machines (A1XE's etc) for sale that will take care of some of that low-mid range area.

Agreed. I dont think the Sam should be reduced in price, the last thing we need is another scenario where the manufacturer can barely afford the losses on board production...
