OS4.1 Keymap editing
Just popping in
Just popping in

See User information
Hello all,

In preparation for Update 1 and its improved USB, (Which I can't download as Hyperion is down) I've been giving my mini PC USB keyboard a try, but I've come across a problem. This kbd has the American type layout with a small CR key and a large #/~ (*) on the row above. I can't seem to find a key map that will allow me to type these. All the other keys produce the right character (even ?) just not that one. Not good for programming. I was going to edit the keymap, but the editors I try won't load OS4.1 keymaps.
I see some other OS4 keymaps on aminet, so how are people creating these?

Thanks
Darren

(*) I had to pull my PS2 keyboard out just to type these!

OS4 keymaps are plain text, just load an existing one into Notepad and edit.

You should be able to make them with just a text editor. Have a look at Documentation/Keymaps.doc (no, it is not an MS Word file ).

I've never tried myself, though, so I don't know how straightforward it is.

Best regards,

Niels
