Hello dear Amiga users,
I ran into trouble and I hope someone can give me a hand with this problem:
I have a SAM440 Amiga from Acube Sytems.
Since Christmas I am facing problems with the GFX output from my SAM.
It is definitely a hardware problem - it started with occasional flickers and its getting worse. When I saw this the first time I touched the monitor cable right at the DVI port of the sam and the problem was fixed. But only for a few hours.
So I bought a new DVI cable but that didn't solve it.
In order to make sure that it maybe comes only from the DVI port I connectet a VGA port cable on the SAM mobo and connected the mon with VGA cable.
Unfortuntely the same. I can't really read any longer anything at all now - DVI or VGA!
Okay I bought a 3,3V ATI 9200 PCI GFX card with 128 MB Ram.
I installed it and I copied the dual graphic cadrs setup files from Acube to their appropriate folders (had to do it in a shell - filer is unusable because of the heavy gfx glitches)
I rebootet the Amiga but no Picture at all
I am looking foreward to install the new OS4.1 U1 - but first I need a picture on the screen again
Now my question: has anybody of you installed a PCI GFX card in the PCI slot of the SAM440? What else is necessary to get it to work - Do I have to run U-BOOT prefs first? Can I install the OS4.1 U1 CD at all with the the second gfx card (the internal is now quite unusable)?
Any help would really be appriciated!
Thanx a lot for your time guys.
I hope that the X1000 appears soon on the market !!!
Keep on going with the Amiga spirit!!!
Cheers
Andi
