Welcome to Amigans.net!

No news yet but it's coming.
On Sam440 you can have only 2 boot sources, due to a limitation of Uboot. As you probably have a hard drive and a CDROM drive, there's no room for another hard drive.

nope, and that is sad (and quite irritating).

I was about to ask for the 2nd HD option..too bad.

+ DVI support for Debian would be highly appreciated (something quite common in 2k8).

Why DVI not working on Debian? As long as I know you can change it at /etc/X11/xorg.conf to specify x server to output video signal as VGA or DVI isn't?

Go to /etc/X11/xorg.config and locate in section Screen

Option "ConnectedMonitor"

What parameter can you see there?

Try to change into this:

Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP, CRT"

I have no SAM440ep yet, but it's due to be shipped to me so I take a look at this problem as well. The more people work on it, the better....

Thanx for Infos, what about installing OS4.1 on Harddrive, then plugging it out and connecting an empty one instead for LINUX -> Install. Unplug DVD in favour of the OS4.1 Harddrive. Plug DVD/CD somewhere else (so DVD/CD not bootable any more...).
Can I have a hardrive instead of a bootable CD/DVD ?

Wait just some days or weeks

Acube work on the problem and will release soon a new Uboot (as M3X said previously on another thread).

We just now wait patiently (even if I have send a mail to Acube and M3x about a statement about this problem, can't resist).

At least DVI works on AmigaOne and Debian. And I don't remember tweaking any settings for that.

I have changed the xorg.conf file by adding the line you have mentionned but the X server doesn't start.

Here is the xorg.conf :
# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"

Section "Screen"

Have you any other suggestion ?

I also have tried with DFP-0 or DFP-1 or DVI, nothing works ;(

Thanks ;)

I have no SAM440ep board yet to be able to play with it. Wait a bit, until I will have my system up and running.

I'm always hacking around with Linux on all my boxes. It must be something with the built in video. Maybe the firmware isn't passing the right arguments about the monitor to Debian, but there is always a workaround.

But just like said above I'll have to wait until my board gets shipped to me to test it out.

There's another batch of boards about to hit so hopefully some more testers in this thread will be able to help you out (sorry, probably pointing out the obvious)

Rude!
