A-EON Interview Part 3..
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

While AW.net is the site where the interview with A-EON is happening, i decided that it would be a nice idea to provide the link directly to that interview...

Now part 3 of the interview is ready answered, and i am confident that you will find it very interesting...

Check it out here:

The CFE thing again hints at the impossible. Grrr. So I will assume that either the CFE list is not updated or they ported it to something else themselves.

I hard somewhere, maybe in TV program or something, that if you eliminate all the realistic possibilities, then whatever remains, however unlikely, must be true. Well, it's still too unlikely for me to believe right now, no matter how awesome it would be if it's true. (It would even save me a whole chip in my own design idea if true as well as be higher performance)

The thing is, there are no new entrants in the PPC market. It is fairly "stale".

Based on CFE tells me it is NOT an AMCC chip - they use uboot in their evaluation systems from what I recall. Same for the QorIQ series - uboot.

This leaves only one option which is giving you much stress....

I google CFE and all I get is MIPS/server/cluster.

Which just makes me drool over the 4 core 64bit MIPS cluster processor BCM 1480.

Google "Common firmware environment" and "PA6T" together.

So, that's the truth, the improbable PA6T?

If you still want to count CPU cores or processing threads, the number went just through the roof.
X1000 CPU / SoC has two cores for two threads.
Xena has one core more and 8 threads.
X1000 r700 GPGPU has minimum of 80 SPUs and maximum of 800 SPUs.

Amiga with hundreds of co-processors ... damn, it will be hard to think a nice name for every unit.

According to A-EON, CFE BIOS is the one that will be used, but how it will be working, is a more interesting thing..

The r700 radeon series indicates 4k series, and that is really good chips. Yum yum.

But what about the CFE bios? Never heard of this before, anyone has knowledge about this bios?

And i too hope it's the pa chip.

Oh yes, the R700 chips look extremely powerful, and they are based on HD-quality, so very good!

Well, the CFE BIOS is interesting. It stands for "Common Firmware Environment". You can google this...

I'm extremely sure it's a P.A Semi chip of short. The PA16T or what is called..

Very powerful!

Even the 1.6Ghz version should do a lot of amazing works!
It's very important that it can handle Altivec codes!
