Thank you so much!

Well, AFAIK latest incarnation of AmigaOS 4.1 will be pre-installed in AmigaOne X1000 as a start..

Nobody knows when AmigaOS 4.2 will be ready, but i think it's fair to say that we should keep our eyes very open in autumn and winter of this year.

If some of you in interest, one of my russian friend post on some popular russian resource info about x1000 + some article about, etc. There is on russian. And there is google translator to english.

Check some comments, strange, but there is no trolling, only like:

Quoting from trevor from a thread on aw.net that is interesting.

Kudos to the smart guy who noticed the os4 install screenshot could be os4 running on x1000, it is indeed.

Yes, although we had some complaints that the AmigaOS4 install picture on the website is very unprofessional. I suppose we could have "faked" a nice clean screen shot of AmigaOS4.1 Update installing on a A1-X1000 but we made do with the actual photograph taken by the OS4 developers of the A1-X1000 installation screen. I know, it's a pity their photographic skills don't match their software skills! (Just kidding guys, honest!)

Anyway, for us at least, this is an historic picture of AmigaOS4 running on a 64-bit Power CPU.

I'd love to see the p.a chip aswell. But ain't that only running at 2ghz??? And this one is 1.8ghz....

But it's most likely the titan from amcc. But that doesn't fit with the open source firmware...

And why name that os4 is running a 64bit cpu? When it's most likely running in 32bit???

Yes, OS4 is probably running in 32-bit on the 64-bit CPU, but the statement was true that it is running on a 64-bit CPU. Since the Titan is only 32-bit, my guess is for the PA-Semi CPU.

Seems you're right about the titan being 32bit cpu. So that means its out of the picture.

But the p.a is said to be 2ghz. Where does the 1.8ghz come from then?????

The PA6T was shipped in a 1.8Ghz version. There are products out there using this flavour of the chip.

"Apple sent a letter to the DoD saying it will assure production of the 1.8 GHz PWRficient processor for three to five years, said one source who saw the letter but asked not to be named. The letter suggests Apple will explore selling the designs to a third party after that time."

@thread

So, what we know about the CPU:
- it is a SoC
- it's Power Isa 2.04 or greater
- it's 64 bit (with 32bit fallback/compatible mode)
- it has enough serdes lines for PCIe x16
- it runs @ 1,8Ghz
- it dissipates >20W in full load & there's CPU cooler mounting holes on board
- it's dual core
- faster than anyting AOS4 has run on so far (per single core)
- the SoC has GPIO lines
- it "seems" to have two DDR2 bus (not officially confirmed)
- what else

So far only PA6T match with all that. (including known new y2010 production chips)

SMP, 64bit AOS4 .... sounds like Hyperion MAP to me.
(even though initially AOS4 runs in 32bit mode & single core)

PA6T specs...
- two DDR2-1066Mhz memory controllers
- Up to 16GB per channel (32GB max RAM)
- 2MB of L2 cache (900Mhz, IIRC) visible for both cores
- 2*64kb L1 Data cache
- 2*64kb L1 Instruction cache
- server-class reliability
- Dual integer execution units per core
- Full floating-point unit per core
- Full VMX unit per core
- Supports multiple, different operating systems simultaneously on each core
- 25W worst-case power dissipation
- 65nm CMOS technology
etc...

It is a huge jump from anything AOS4 has run on so far!

For example with PPC440ep we have no L2 and "only" 32k of L1 cache (32k i+32k d). On x1000 it seems that we have huge caches and superb fast RAM!

PA6T has more cache RAM than many classic Amigas had any RAM when they shipped...
I hope that we see PA6T kind of chip also on the low end ASAP.

IMHO: well worth 1500€ as a PPC HW

and... I started to wonder if there is already a military buyer for PPC+xcore combination ... -> key to PA6T availability??

Wow,impressive ram speeds. And not to forget the max amount of ram. Would be cool to get 64bit support and fill up the ram. Aos 4.2 running 32gig ram.

And PA6T has two RAM buses, so 128bit wide memory @ 1066Mhz.

Looking forward to see what the mystical CPU is, but it could be a good thing if the CPU already is 64-bit, but currently has to run in 32-bit because of AmigaOS4..

It's AmigaOS5 that will likely be a true 64-bit SMP OS.
I'm sure of it, and Hyperion might have better ideas for
this than what Amiga Inc had..'

But would be surprised if Hyperion manage to fill these gaps in later versions of AmigaOS 4..

Not sure where you want to go with this one, but Trevor might have tried to explain that the CPU could be 64-bit,
but AmigaOS4 still 32-bit. I wouldn't worry about this..

This means nothing bad...
