Games working (or not) on OS4 Final

Good news first:

MYST
-works very well. I always had some problems,mainly gfx glithces, but now it runs as it should. I still don't know what I'm supposed to do, but that's not exactly OS4's fault... ;)

NIGHTLONG
-installation script on the 1.1 CDs seems faulty.Installing from the original CDs works.Copy the PPC files to that directory and the game runs, but...the gfx have the heatwave effect. I had this before and the solution was quite simple, but I can't recall. I'm pretty sure it will work, though


I'll try WipeOut2097, Napalm (the usual suspect...) and tZer0 next...

Dynamite does not work, got a GR when connecting to the servers list

very sad because it is one of the best multiplayer game made for Amiga.

I only played Dynamite once or twice, but I'm a fan of Bomberman games.

PAYBACK
-works under certain conditions, but doesn't feel much stable. No sound, some menu options freeze the whole machine, but it's possible to play.

WARPSNES
-used to crash, but I guess it was because it expected to find the amigainput libs. Copied those and it runs fine and with USB joystick support apparently unscathed!

TZER0
-does not work...

NAPALM
-got much further than I'd ever did (the actual game pointer showed up), but then it's black screen all the way.

Exodus
Works same but only after a reinstall.

Earth2140
Fast and stable as usual.

Quake 1
Works well

Quake 2
Didn't work for me and I cannot get it to reinstall with a GR on qtools, tried everything but will try something elese when I get a a backup of the Q2 directory from my brother (the install trashed the original)

Quake 3
Works well, stable as far as I can survive and that ain't long so I can't tell beyond that!

Warpsnes
Fine using Amigainput from update 4

E-UAE, XMame, Frodo, VisualBoyAdvance,ScummVM and FPSE all work fine.

Netpanzer
This one is strange, all of a sudden it was saving prefs in Cygnix (X11) and would not run. If I removed the assign to Cygnix it would run but die when trying to connect to a server. I need to look at this one more.

All in all pretty well everything works albeit some minor glitches.

-crashes.I'll see what can be done, since it is supposed to work.

WIPEOUT2097
-after the prefs screen, it crashes.Same as Freespace, I think something can be done.

Sorry forgot to mention FREESPACE, it work brilliantly and FAST. Sorry you probably didn't need to hear that! Try a reinstall.

Also did I mention Foundation Gold? Works perfectly, although I got no sound if I left the cd in, take it out and all is well, probably down to whichever CR/DVDROM I have hooked to aux.

Freespace:I'm betting there's something wrong with install.I'll do it again, ASAP.

As for "Foundation(Director's Cut, in my case)", the truth is sad. The CD I bought long ago has become blank(!!!).No access is allowed, so,basically, I no longer have that game. :(((((

It was a cool one, though...

GenesisPlus & SMSPlus are both pretty flakey.

No matter how much people ruin their AmigaOS4 final systems that way, and even if some seem to have some partial success: The versions of powerpc.library includeed in Update3 and Update4 do not work on AmigaOS4 final. If you didn't install AmigaOS4 final on an empty partition, or copied everything from your Update4 partition to the OS4 final partition after installing it on an empty partition, make sure to delete LIBS:powerpc.library and LIBS:Warp3DPPC.library - unless you want to have an unstable system.

You mentioned AmigaInput: can you play Quake(1,2 or 3) with, say, a USB joypad?

I assume you're saying "WipeOut2097" doesn't work on OS4Final, since previously I was able to play it ok.
As for "Freespace", I'm using the version on Hyperion's site.


I installed on a clean partition, but...did indeed copy the powerpc.library (and now Warp3DPPC). My system is relatively stable, but I still get some unexplained freezes, particularly on IBrowse (but not just IB).
I'll remove said libraries and see if it improves.

Hopefully, I won't lose that much, but an updated library would be useful. I read it won't happen, but hope that isn't final.

I used to play Quake 2 with my old A1200 joypad and it worked great!

I'll make further tests, see if I can get it running.

I used to play Quake 2...

In the OS4 Final, Q2 runs real nice and fast! I had bump the stackup to 4000000.

Yes, Quake2 plays very well here, too.?I was saying I used to play it with a joypad, which I can't anymore...

TZERO wont work as it requires AGA chipshet.
