Help with A1XE
Just popping in
Just popping in

See User information
Hi all,

Got my A1 out of storage and sent it to Kurt for the fix.

Got it back, said it worked great.

Now I'm trying to load it up and can't get the U-Boot screen.

Do I need to do something or should it just come up?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Try replacing the battery.

'non fixed' A1XE, USB card, Sil 0680 IDE, 512mb RAM, Radeon 9250, OS4.1 Update 5

What gfx card? (does it probably need a power cable?)
Checked the ram? (seating may have come loose)
Checked the PSU? (Does any lights go on? HD? CD?)

Back in January, I got my A1XE back from Revanche LLC. In transit, the heatsink had come off. I didn't think much about it until I had replaced about everything else in the system. I could not get UBoot from either the monitor, or the null modem/hyperterm serial output.

It is possible that the CPU got damaged in transit. Ask Kurt if there was shipping insurance. If so, maybe you can get it taken care of. For my part, I waited too long to check out this option.

@Raziel,

I used the original GFX card, a 9200, then checked with a 9250 I bought.

Ram tested by Kurt, OK.

PSU, Damn, did not check before power up.

@interrogative,

Yes, I had insurance, but I think the prob is the PSU.

It's the original and I checked it today thanks to a web site and found voltages all over the place. High ones , low ones. Crap.

I'll send the board back and make sure the PSU didn't burn it up and go from there.

Thanks guys.

It's the original...
Seriously, that's the problem. I replaced mine within the year of getting the A1 in 2003. Replaced it with a ThermalTake.

Hi I have the problems as you because I can't get the U-Boot screen at all asn I suppose to change the battery for a new one but I am waiting.

In my case I disconnected the A1's tower and LCD LG monitor to test and probe it's behaviour under the status of the great Amiga One line of computers.

Do you have similar problems with ours AmigaOnes?

Can I do something more to fix it?

I will open a thread for my Amiga One if possible.

If after trying all the obvious, new battery, making sure all components are seated correctly etc, it still does not boot. . . the next step is to see what you can get from its serial output as it boots.
