My A1 has died :(

@All im going to pull it all to pieces and rebuild it from scratch new tower PSU etc aas i would love to keep it running if possible
even when i get the X1000 im hoping the A1 will still serve me

My own A1XE stopped working less than two months after a CPU reflow I'm pretty sure the problem comes from the welding that didn't last but AmigaCenter don't want to retry the operation ("too risky").
So I'm now trying to find someone able to do CPU reflow in Europe, if anyone of you here have experience in that...

Would you be prepared to sell it to me ? That might be a solution if I was unable to find someone wishing to do the CPU reflow. (I'm assuming you are speaking about a spare complete module not just a spare CPU), thanks for the offer. I'll contact you if I need it.

I often have similar problems with my A1XE. Like you, I've checked (or replaced) the battery to no avail but sometimes it will then work again.

There was a recent thread, either here or at AW.net about a loose battery holder causing such problems - maybe worth a try!

Another problem area is the spacers (standoffs) between the motherboard and the CPU daughterboard. They were supplied the wrong length (can't remember whether they were too long or too short) and the CPU module doesn't sit straight (parallel to the mobo).

As a result, the CPU connector is sometimes intermittent, but can be fixed if you replace the spacers with new ones that are (IIRC) 5.5 mm long.

Thank you for your offer, I'm still waiting for possibilities to repair my CPU module (via Retronix) in case I can't have an answer during next week, I'll consider your proposition.
On the other hand I also had proposition for Sam loan from France which might be a good opportunity to see how it compares to my A1XE G4.
