Using to make this post. Seems fairly fast on SAM Flex 800 for an ALPHA version. A big congratulations and thankyou to all involved.

From the readme:
Welcome to the Timberwolf Alpha 1 release.

Introduction

First of all
please know that this is an Alpha releaseThis means that
some functionality is not in yet
or not working, and the program still
contains many bugs
.

Launching Timberwolf

Timberwolf is launched by double clicking on it
's icon. If you run it
for the first time, it will take considerably longer than on subsequent
runs. Since there is no splash screen yet, it will look as if nothing is
happening.

Known Problems

There is a number of known problems with this release:

- Menus display correctly (mostly), but selecting items with the mouse
  isn'
t workingThereforewe recommend using shortcuts (ALT+underlined
  letter to open menu
cursor keys to select).

Some boxes on web pages do not show correctlyThey might even destroy
  some of the UI elements
.

When launched for the fist timethe window will be taller than the
  screen
You'll have to resize it (if you can't reach the size gadget
  use
the ctrl+alt key method to resize on any edge of the window)

Speed is currently much lower than it could beA conceptual problem
  in the rendering code
(leading to massive overdrawsometimes 2 to 8
  times
)  and missing hardware acceleration is responsible for that

Since we're updating to a newer release of the base source code
(Firefox 3.7), this will be addressed later..

- It crashes a lot. It might even crash when just looking at it. Don'
t

use it for homebanking yet.

Reporting Bugs

There is a support forum
for Timberwolf at http://www.amigans.net.
Please report any bugs that you findNote that we might not answer
to all of the reports
but we will read and try to address all of them.

Too bad that my SAM440EP had to be sent on a trip to Italy . At least I will have something to look forward to trying out when it gets back though .

@all:
Don't run here ... on a sam 440 Flex 800Mhz / 1gb ram
Amiga OS 4.1 u 2

I click on Timberwolf ...
1 task is added ... 20Mb memory is used ... freed ... and task is removed after few seconds...
Nothing more ..

Same after an Amiga OS 4.1u2 reset.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

Menus have issues with mouse coordinates, that's why you should operate them using the shortcuts, or press ALT + menu shortcut and navigate with the cursor keys.

There's a lot of work left to be done. Quite a bit of the UI depends on correct subwindow rendering, which currently doesn't work most of the time. As Thom already wrote in the release notes, the rendering code has a bit of an issue (I started it way before I know the subtleties of the rendering engine's concept) and needs a large rewrite, but that sounds more dramatic than it is really, since a lot of work was not writing code but understanding how it is supposed to work.

If you look closely, you will sometimes see parts of the window go completely black for a moment, there's a lot of overdraw going on in the refresh code, things like that will have to go, making the whole affair noticeably faster. Plus, there is no hardware acceleration whatsoever yet.

Seriously, if you do want to contact me write me a mail. You're more likely to get a reply then.

Thanks devs. Its nice to see the first public beta. I will not comment too much on bad things as i know its beta and everything is written in the readme. But its nice to have it here and can actually try out firefox on my miggy for the first time.

Im writing here right now with it :)

Couldnt test to login on some sites as i cant use the (at) sign. I cant copy/paste either.

Thanks. Will watch for updates :) And ofcourse donate soon.

Alpha! It's an alpha, really... in a beta I would expect that everything is in it with a few bugs... This is rather less than that.
