@afxgroup I find that killing everything that comes from "X-Mailer=Outlook" gets rid of most of it. A large part of the remainder is addressed to a fake "To" name/address, so that goes in the bin, too. Not much left after that. YAM does a good job.

@tonyw
I take it you don't have many friends who use Windows.

@Billsey I have (thankfully) few friends, and neither of them uses *Outlook* (they prefer Eudora or Pegasus, etc).

@orgin My site is absolutely hammered by spambots to the point where I had to put a "human test" on every comment form. I also have a massive .htaccess filtering out referrers containing "casino", "baccarat", "roulette", "insurance", "viagra" and so on and so forth. The former stopped the spam, and the latter has brought my bandwidth down quite a lot. It still messes up my referrer stats, though, and I like to browse those to see who is linking to my site. I hate thos spambot bastards.

@Billsey It is high time for them to get rid of this mailer and substitute it with some normal one. Especially now, in the area of spammers, who like this tool very much. There are many other ways to communicate so you don't be afraid that you lose your friends.

@afxgroup In e-mails I guess it is but in the websites you can easily beat it by using tokens.

@Billsey I have had no end of spammers on my web-forum as well... I get a steady trickle of people posting messages containing links to pr0n sites, male-enhancement drug sites, Russian mail-order dating sites, and probably any number of other things... Different web-BBS packages have different countermeasures, though... I have installed a number of them, but it hasn't completely stopped the spammers. But, then, spammers are constantly changing their tactics and rewriting their bots to get around the countermeasures. They've made email a hellhole of uselessness with all their junk, now they've moved on to web forums. Dern their scaly hides!

@Billsey Special pictures with codes that you need to enter if you want to register or upload something. That way bots and spammer cannot do it automatically.

@NomadOfNorad Are they able to get through "tokens" I described above?

@mailman So far, absolutely no spam has made it through the "enter the word" test I cooked up for my site.

@xeron That way should be spreaded everywhere so the spammers would die. The same as blocking e-mails from Outlook. Though the second thing is not so easy to do.
