Is it possible to make Windows NT sandbox?

Everybody is wanting AmigaOS on x86, but lets see other way around that would stop people complain - Windows NT sandbox in AmigaOS.

Note: I am not a developer, just think it over.

Yes, its huge effort, copyright problematic, but then again, Windows NT kernel (e.g. Win NT 4, Win 2000, Win95) would be enough to run most of Win32 apps and would satisfy the basic problem of Amiga - lack of heavyweight applications.

Some cornerstone there is:

Windows NT4 PowerPC - maybe some kind of mixed solution where kernel is already PPC as well as drivers,
could be used to run just application calls in emulated sandbox, similar way as AmigaOS 4 is limited compared to Amiga OS 3

Would need NT 4.0 drivers for SAM boards and X1000,
as well as some application wrapper, x86 CPU emulator

ReactOS - free reacreation of Win95 compatibility was developed for PPC but some team would have to take over from some alpha build.

DOSBOx emulates DOS on oS4, tested to run Win 3.11. but could it run WinNT 4.0 or Win95?

Other solution would be the classic x86 emulation box. Hopes that now with over 1Ghz CPU (even dual core with x1000) and PCI-E Gfx this would be possible. I believe even Microsoft realised one of the virtual boxes for PPC Leopard.

Well, in theory, its certainly possible, but in practice is a massive job that would require far too much work.

Much better to concentrate on bringing better software to OS4 than to spend a long time creating something like this.

Have to agree with xeron here. Way too much work in the wrong direction. If you want to use Windows you move your chair 50cm to the left and simply use that PC instead. I'm sure you have one, everyone does, except me that is

The point of using Amiga(OS) is to have the applications running in this lovely OS instead of in a stupid OS, like winblows. So making winsuck run on AmigaOS kind of looses the point

Besides, how many apps of the kind you wish for really exists for NT PPC??! Now if this sandboxed NT PPC is supposed to emulated x86 versions of the software you might as well use an _existing_ emulator like DOSbox instead.

Or you could just dual-boot Linux

Yes, its my code. But its only a proof-of-concept. It doesn't run much more than some very simple exe's.

No it can't be downloaded anywhere, and you don't want it anyway.

Well, almost all commercial software, you can`t get mostly for Linux.

Altough, I have to agree its difficult, somehow, somekind of sandboxing and x86 JIT would be a nice way to see in OS5 and to overcome all the major difficulties.

OK, lets see Open Office for Kids, Timberwolf and at least some more apps.

However, any NT emulated, would be good enough, not to boot to other OS.

Idea is how to make AmigaOS more attractive, and more apps avail.
