Anyone tried FPSE on OS4.1? I've never tried PS1 emulation on OS4 before, but was surprised at how well it seems to work:
The version of FPSE on OS4Depot is *really* old, but there's a much more recent version
on it's home page.
Took a while to work out how to set-up the emulator (it has literally useless defaults!). I ended-up using:
CPU tab:
Compiler = On
Optimised engines = On
MDEC = Color
External MDEC = Off
SPU Sync = Off
BIOS tab:
Logo = Off
Emulation = On if you have no BIOS file, otherwise Off.
File = (leave this empty unless you have a BIOS file)
CD tab:
Locale = Europe
CDDA to SPU = Off
Read SUBQ = On
Ignore Errors = On
Plugin tab: (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!)
GPU = plugin/gpuw3d.dll
SPU = plugin/spupeops.dll
JOY0 = plugin/joykey.dll
JOY1 = plugin/joynull.dll (the default)
CD = plugin/cdimage.dll (to use an ISO CD image, or use plugin/cdrom.dll to use a real CD).
PAR = plugin/parnull.dll (the default)
Configure for the GPU plugin/gpuw3d.dll window:
FullScreen = On (but you may want it Off at first)
Resolution = Actual/ScreenMode
ScreenMode = Radeon M9:320x224 ARGB32 (you will need to create this screenmode first in Sys:Prefs/ScreenMode & then reboot)
Scale = Off (scaling does NOT slow down noticably, but it DOES cause a bug if FrameSkip is enabled)
FrameSkip = 2 (was required on my 667MHz Sam440, but faster machines may manage 1, in which case you could enable Scaling).
Speed Limit = On
Hide Pointer = On
Texture Reduction = 1/1
Texture Cache = 256
Texture Filter = Nearest
Configure for the SPU plugin/spupeops.dll window:
Emultion mode = Fast (thread)
Volume = Loud
Reverb = Simple reverb
Interpolation = Simple interpolation
Play XA/CDDA = On
Wait for CPU action = Off
IRQs ... = Off
Disable stereo = Off
IRQ = Off
Speaker = Left & Right
Configure for the JOY0 plugin/joykey.dll window:
I found the defaults to be fine, so you just need to memorise them!
Configure for the CD plugin/cdimage.dll window:
Path = (where-ever your ISO CD image(s) are stored)
Use last = On (this is helpful!)
Play CDDA = Off
Speaker = Left & Right
Make sure to click "Save Settings"! To play a game, click on "Start CD". If you are using an ISO CD image then it will ask for the file.
