Layers are definitely a planned feature, but there are other things I want done first before I begin implementing layers so it might take a while (like, months...) before layers are finally there.
About the implementation: not sure yet, but I think at first it will be quite simple, just multiple transparent paintings over each other. Adjustment layers is harder so I don't know if that will even ever be added... But operations to blend layers together are definitely planned.
There are some things I wonder about when I implement layers, such as, when you do a filter, would a user want it done only on the current layer or on all layers at once? I think I'll make that a toggle switch similar to the Batch Mode setting that exists now.
Why do you ask, do you have any suggestions for the layers? :)
@kas1e One thing he should work on before layers is the free hand (or better, "point to point") selection mode. There anin't much use for layers if you can't blend different (freely movable and "stretchable") selections using them. The current method using masks is kind of clumsy IMHO. Once we have proper selections, all we need is the possibility to put them over different layers and composite a single image using different blending modes...

@kas1e Well, at least we know he will eventually do it. If free hand "cuts" will come later than a good new feature would at least be layers that can blend whole images (at least I could mix up multi-pass renderings that way ).
SamFlex Complete System + AmigaOS4.1 Update 4 Amiga 2000 GVP GForce-040 Picasso II AmigaOS3.9 BB2 Amiga CD-32
I contact with him 2 days ago (because in last 7-8 weeks not make any updates), and he say that he in "busy by works and stuff" state :) Anyway he add in last day some more stuff. In others (layers and such) i forget to ask (will do it later).
@all New version on os4depot in upload query, new since last:
-- AmigaOS4 skin added (dobe by Mason), and sets as default for amigaos4 version of program. -- Added cancel button to the color selection dialogs -- LodePaint now remembers the chosen skin between sessions -- Fixes of the mouse event code to make it hopefully work on a touch screens -- Also ask file save confirmation when exiting the program using "File - Exit". -- Changed "alpha to mask" filter into "channel to mask" allowing to choose what to convert to mask -- Made median filter slightly faster
There still can be freezes/crashes, but as far as i know, warp3d already fixed in that terms, so, new update should fix the problems if they will occurs for some users.
hmm on new version lodepaint is till asking for 'libz.so.1' at startup ? everythig else seems to be working fine and big thanks to Mason for new skin..looks sharp
