On behalf of everyone, I'd like to thank Walkero and Mikey_C for their work on the upgrade and transition, and to Orgin for supplying the Snack! based temporary site.
Also big thanks to HNL for his initial work on the shift to XOOPS 2.4.
Great job lads, and it's great to be back.
Simon

Hey! Here's my little contribution to the reborn of Amigans.net site;
The screenshot is taken from new version of my Icon Editor which allows to paint Ellipses and Rectangles with Alpha level. This version will be downloadable as soon as I introduce all functionality from previous versions as the new version is being rewritten in C++. New features includes also: centering of icon image in the edit field.
Nod, is great to be back! but I did sign up to the temp one but now that is lost to me like tears in the rain

mmh.. somehow now using the google DNS I can visit this website but all the graphics is missing, pplus the bugs thread keeps redirecting to amigaworld..
Haven't tried, but Xoops is riddled with mostly pointless Javascript - more so in this version than the previous one we were using - and that could be causing problems.
I did request the pointless Javascript buttons etc to be de-Javascripted but we lost HNL and Walkero hasn't done it (probably due to needing PHP code changes).
I don't have any access to the server to do it myself and I'd probably be burnt at the stake for changing Xoops PHP code.
It's a PITA as you have to jump through hoops to reply or send PMs with NetSurf now.

Isn't that more a limitation of the browser, rather than a problem with the CMS?

I have added more detail in the "bugs" thread. I think we should keep comments regarding issues in that thread so walkero doesn't have to follow multiple threads.

Yes, but the Javascript that has been used is entirely unnecessary in the places I'm talking about. Mostly it's only to make something look like a button, where a normal link with an image would be perfectly serviceable, work without Javascript (or with JS disabled), and could be in our site style.
Of course I'm well aware that some things aren't going to work without JS, but XOOPS seems to go out of the way to ensure this is the case even where it shouldn't be.
Great! Amigans is back!!! Thanks a lot guys, as an OS4.1 user I feel again at home.
@BillE As a web developer I personally do not agree on avoiding javascript or css. Come on, they were introduced in mid-nineties! I do not want my Amiga to be stuck in the past, I've choosed to use a Sam460, not an Amiga 1200...

Both are likely to stay as doing otherwise requires amending the XOOPS code, which walkero wants to avoid (I understand his reasons for this, even if I don't necessarily agree with them)
It's a bit embarrassing for me being NetSurf developer, and showing up on a site that it doesn't work properly with, as "site builder".
I will request this to be changed forthwith as I have no powers to fix the site, and implementing JS single-handedly in NS is not something I'm qualified to do.
