On my journey in and around AmigaOS I have stumbled upon the PrefsObjectsEditor in the Utilties folder strangely not in the Prefs folder.

Looks like an effort to move program settings and properties away from the old, but ineffective tooltypes. I like this very much! :)

Erm, no. It's the first step to move away from old type of saving *binary* prefs files based often on the IFF-FORM-type in (i.e.) ENVARC: and making this files more user readable and flexible. You can find this new form of prefs file in your ENVARC:/ENV: drawers - mostly #?.xml. Rhingo for example stores it's prefs in such a file. ToolTypes are still in charge!

I can't understand how somebody can hate tooltypes. It's unique Amiga feature and will stay forever hopefully. Also using them it saves quite some time for software developers.

They are just fine, but not always expecially when someone decide to use them instead of a graphical interface (see Reaction OWB)
