Hi,

Can't find the old thread, so here we are today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng9HdvVsKrU

Introduction to AmigaOS 4.1 by a new, but old user of AmigaOS.

After receiving my SAM 460 from AmigaKit I decided to quickly purchase Hollywood Designer, explore AmigaOS and download loadsa applications to toy around with and thus this video was born.

You can also download it as an application for AmigaOS 4, no music sorry, turn your radio or something.

Did "jsuttonus" post the same crap comment on your video that he put up on Mufa's? What a bunch of FUD from him.

BTW, what format is yours in? I downloaded the lha but couldn't play the extracted file in either DVplayer or Mplayer. I had to go to my wife's Windoze box to go to you tube. Wish I cvould get Clipdown to work right. But it asked me what format I wanted to watch it in, and told me that 7 different file formats were not available to view.

Anyway, both yours and Mufa's are nice videos. Good job.

nice, but may i correct some weird statements from your videos...

1 - don't announce multicore on OS4 for 2012... cause it won't happen so early.

2 - OS4.1 is not the fastest system on PPC as stated on the X1000 video. MorphOS is faster, it was proven in all aspects by benchmarks available on the web.

careful with propaganda please.

1. You don't know for sure, neither do I, but speaking speculatively they should be able to pull off multiple-core support within 20 months.

2. Must be some other video as I don't mention fastest system on PPC. Personally I don't care which system is the fastest.

it's just a fan made video made out of enthusiasm and sheer fun, not some broadcast television commercial, take it for what it is...

I wouldn't certainly rule out AOS4.x on X1000 being the fastest system to look up to, maybe not "per clock" but in general probably so.
Besides, you don't expect the lack of USB 2.0 or slow 3D to be there forever (or do you?)

Aye that is true, only problem they are all still images. I would to do some screen-capturing, but SRec needs hardware compositing which I don't have yet. So its clever use of fixed images, transitions and actions for now.

No WarpView or DvPlayer in list of multimedia apps?

yes, it's not a television commercial, but it was made to look like some advertisement anyway, while ads generally lie and exaggerate the product being advertised, i expect something more accurate from amateur videos who don't have any financial interest in promoting lies

Why have you not mentioned DvPlayer?
It comes with the OS.

I really think you should repost the video!

Nah, I'll just do another video. The multimedia section is lacking yes. DvPlayer doesn't play Avis (at least the SE version that comes with the OS). Whereas MPlayer does; and people outside the AmigaOS bubble have at least heard of Mplayer.

Amigo1, its just the start of the videos.

@SoundSquare: Whatever. Boingball is red, not blue that is all I have to say.

I recently bought a SAM 460, so yes I have a financial interest. I want to get my monies worth. And if that means self-promoting the platform then so be it. Its fun making videos anyway and telling the world that FireFox and OpenOffice (someday) is coming to AmigaOS. :)

"lie" is a big word, more like wishful thinking maybe, and...what if 20 months from now he turns out to be right?

@djrikki
In the end Hollywood is a commercial program that doesn't come with the OS but it's there, so why not advertise the commercial version of DVPlayer as well...(might play less video formats at the moment but is way more polished than mplayer...)
