Amiga OS 4.1 Classic copy problems
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

See User information
I have just installed amiga os 4.1 on my classic and everything was fine. I have a simple stupid problem that happens everytime i copy a directory containing files from my cd-rom to my hd or ram disk. Everytime i try to do this a requester told me that the files are write protected so i have to manually create a directory into my destination and manually copy the files into it from the source..

This could not be a problem if i only have a directory that contains some files but it is a big problem if i have directory with others directory inside and lots of files..

Is there any option to set or any workaround to avoid all of this?

Hi, using which version of C:Copy?
So we can test if it's a bug in c:Copy or elsewehere

And which commandline/arguments are you using (ex. copy cd0: hd0: all ....)?

TIA

i Check the version but consider that i am using a clean amiga os 4.1u2 and then u3 installation.. to copy i drag and drop the files/directory from source to destination and tried also with directory opus

Yeah, so it doesn't have anything to do with the C:Copy command specifically, as you don't use that in the first place.

Maybe more interesting would be to know which filesystem you have on the disk you are copying to?

Best regards,

Niels

Bad choice, sorry

have you got a SFS/JXFS partition to try on these ?

@nubechecorre

What are the permission flags on the directories/files you are trying to copy? Is the writable flag set or cleared?

What CDFS are you using? The AmigaOS4 included one or some other CDFS?

This sounds like a bug in the CDFS: It appears to clear the write flag so directories copied from the CD don't get the write flag set (as it was when the CD was burned, I assume).

The CDFS should only mark *itself* read-only, not its contents!

i am still checking, it seems that changing fs of the hd could avoid the problem but still not sure, i'll kept you informed about it :)

ok after some tests i can say that it is a filesystem problem.. i don't know why but if i try to copy some directory from a cd-rom into a fastfilesystem2 partition it gives me that error while if i copy a directory from cd-rom to a non fastfilesystem2 partition, no problems (for example sfs or jxfs)..
