Amigans.net being reworked?
Home away from home
Home away from home

See User information
I noticed some changes to Amigans.net over the last few days:
* A different & cleaner look (not sure exactly what has changed).
* A new Xmas backdrop at the top.
* A new (?) menu bar at the top.

So who do we have to thanks for these changes?

only thing that could made better is the amigans logo. its too whiteish. Not a problem with the colour but it looks so static compared to the background. Like when using 3Ds on cinema and the text is infront :)

Mostly Orgin, he seems to have got his Mojo back.
However, more changes are planned in the coming months

Not to worry, that's just me playing around. I'm sure that someone who knows what (s)he's doing will produce something nicer :)

Mostly just the top logo area and some minor color changes. And the side blocks have been rearranged, dropped and/or redone a bit.

Err that's actually some space scenery. A planet, nebula and a star sky behind it ;)

I agree, very nice way to get access to and overview of the many aspects of Amigans.net.

I was looking in vain for a link to the OS4Depot bugtracker, would that be a useful addition?

Best regards,

Niels

The Member search (left side panel) does not work at all, any input just reloads the member search page.
Even pressing only submit to get a list of all members does nothing.

Seems like a good idea. Could it replace "Main Menu" (on the left) entirely?

And me, it looks more like snow storm than a starry sky

The new menu at the top is very handy, I like it.

I guess it is useful for showing the most important stuff, without it being hidden in a menu, so no problem keeping it...

... but I still think it feels strange (and probably confusing) to have two different "menus" (aka lists of links) with partially overlapping content. IMHO it would be better if your new "titlebar menu" contained everything, and then the old "handy links" on the left was just a useful sub-set of the links in the "titlebar menu".

Doing that might require a small reorganisation of the existing "titlebar menu". But that might be an idea anyway, as my feeling is that not everything is as logically organised as it could be. Off the top of my head:

* Logout could be moved to the User Menu.
* Home, Forums & Search could be moved into a Site (or maybe Main or Sections) menu where Home currently is.

In that case, the following stuff from the "handy links" menu on the side could be copied into the new "titlebar menu":

* Archive could be copied to the Site sub-menu, and perhaps renamed Archived News.
* Search could become a sub-menu, with Site taking you to what is currently labelled "Search", and then Members could be copied to this new Search sub-menu.
* User Tools could be copied to the User sub-menu.
* Who's Who, Topics Directory, Images, Headlines, Donations, Articles, Classifieds & Polls could be copied to the Site sub-menu.

After doing all that, it might or might not make sense to move all the News-related stuff in the Site sub-menu into a new News sub-menu all of their own.

It's difficult to imagine what it would look like after all that, so there might be additional changes that spring to mind afterwards!

I redid it a bit so that they don't overlap as much.

Above the "Recent OS4 files" and to the "Links" pulldown menu would be good places? (Maybe only to the Links menu)

Thanks for the member search fix
