I'd stay clear of SB cards in general as I only had problems trying to get them working properly on my old Samflex@800.

IMHO I'd stick to the Envy24HT AHI drivers as they seem to work rock solid.

SBLive! works perfect for me..it must be on emu10kx chip. See driver description on OS4Depot.

Edit. Found a few photos and 0570 has a newer chip. Probably wont work. You have to search for older version (lower number).

@ mr2

I agree with you. I have the same SBLive! 5.1 card with the emu10kx chip and works without any problems.

@ klapdeur

I had a SB Audigy card once installed in my peecee. I don't think that they use the emu10kx chip now, as they are newer, thus they will have a newer chip as well.

well the onboard sound of the sam460ex is still beta and the driver has some flaws like high pitch cracking in the sound output. no dma acces.

the pcie2pci adapter should work i mailed acube about it but they didnt test it but they also said that it could be a solution.

nobody tried this allready??

I tried a PCIe 1x to PCI adapter in my Sam460 and it did not work. I just use a full-height sound card in my PCI slot instead. Is something already using your PCI slot?

do you have the sata onboard in use?

if so then the pci-e 1x slot doesnt work on the sam460.

I use the on-board SATA for my hard drive, then connect a USB CD/DVD drive. That allows me to use the PCI slot for a sound card. It works out very convenient for me because I just share the USB CD/DVD drive among all my computers, saving me from having to buy one for each of them. However, I know that may not be what you prefer.
You could also use an SDcard as your hard disk, then use the on-board SATA for the CD/DVD drive, so you can use your PCI slot for a sound card. You would need a very fast SDcard though, because most of them are slower than hard drives.

Oke thats why the pci-e 2 pci adapter didnt work because if you use the inboard sata the 1x pci-e is shared with the onboard sata so you can use only 1 of them at a time. So there is a BIG change that it will work or something like his
pci-e2pci with a sata controller in that way youll have the pci slot still open.
