I see...

Is there a way to display how much free memory out of the 512MB of RAM? I have managed to display the amount of Video Ram available but the memory is always showing 512MB.

Also is it possible to have windows that have their own bar? With the Back and Forward buttons? I think it'd be useful.

And finally...I have tried to run a film .mpg in DVPlayer and all I get is a black screen, the .m4v won't play at all.

Thanks!

Hava a look at Prefs/workbench and select Screen Title Format/Insert
Then select memory (first item in the left window and then select the option you want from under show
This allows you to display Free, Used, Total, or Largest Memory.
Also don't forget to include a text name for the variable.

@ChrisH

Just downloaded your awesome, RunInUAE and I am testing it right now. I must say it is good, VERY good, what I was dreaming of years and years ago, double click an ADF and off you go! Well done!

Question: Can you run a game/application in a window?

Brilliant!

Another question:

How do I add etra USB ports to the SAM440ep?

I have two front USB ports on my case, can I connect them internally (on the motherboard)?

Thanks

MPEGS files are supported but AFAIK DvPlayer does not support m4v, try with MPlayer or MUI MPlayer

MPlayer
http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... le=video/play/mplayer.lha

MUI MPlayer
http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... video/play/muimplayer.lha

BTW:
If you still with DvPlayer you may found interesting the avcoded, lots of new format supported

http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... ideo/misc/avcodec_lib.lha

Again for DvPlayer there is also a DVD plugin based on libdvdcss.

For extra USB ports on my A1, I am using this..

NZXT IU01 Internal USB Expansion Card

It connects to the USB header on the motherboard. Does the SAM have the USB pins or only the backplate USB connectors?

Thanks, I'll have a look.

MSN Messenger equivalent/compatible for OS4.1?
Skype?
AmIRC still the best? Does it work?
So much catching up to do!

For MSN : SabreMSN

For Skype : nothing at the moment

For IRC : WookieChat is the best in my opinion.

AmIRC works too on AmigaOS 4 (you have to install the 68k version first and update it with the OS4 archive).

Hope it helps

* OS4 native AmIRC is available on OS4Depot.

* For Quake and its mods, I at least use both software render Quake, and GLQuake. Reason being that many mods just crash with GLQuake, even one example that is reported as working on basic Win32 GLQuake. The latest OS4 GLQuake is also much better than the earlier ones.

! This wasn't asked perhaps, but a slight extension... Last time I tried, uploading videos to Youtube (and a few other places) didn't require Flash either (OWB worked).

Great thanks!
I am using OWB-MUI which is great compared to early versions, is this still developed?

OWB-MUI is developed for MorphOS, anything else is unknown.

Quake without MiniGL: http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... e&file=game/fps/quake.lha

GLQuake: http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... file=game/fps/glquake.lha

At least neither of them are from 2006 or something. I don't play Quake II or Q3A.

@TheDaddy

for quake2, you have two options. if you already have the game data, you can use capehill's port; alternatively you can purchase the full amiga version from hyperion at amigakit. peter gordon just recently updated the hyperion version, so it's worth a look. don't expect incredible performance, though. on my SAM i get around 21FPS with high quality settings.

for quake3 thomas frieden authored a port available at os4depot, which capehill based his port on as well. i haven't tried either version since i just have a SAM, so i imagine it wouldn't be terribly playable.

have fun!

Have a look at the manual which came with your Sam (or find the latest one as PDF on ACube's web site). There are headers on the motherboard for this, and you can see which ones they are, and how the pinout is, in that manual. If your front ports are fitted with standard cables with header plugs, it should be relatively straightforward to connect them. At least it was on mine back when I did it a couple of years ago.

Best regards,

Niels

Thanks Niels.
Had a look and the two front USB 2.0 ports have a cable with 5 holes (for 5 pins each) the SAM has two rows of 4, I connected them the right way and now I have two front USB ports! Thanks!
