When the same thng happened to me recently, I found that somehow the boot2 and boot3 UBoot env variable had been cleared. Normally they are set to:

boot1=cdrom
boot2=ide
boot3=s4sii

So I only had boot1=cdrom left, and since there was no cd in the drive, it couldn't find any boot source.

I just went into the menu in UBoot and selected the settings for second and third boot source again and saved. I could have set them from the UBoot command prompt as well, of course, but I was lazy .

Best regards,

Niels

Yes and yes, to no avail...

It happend after I had fooled around with U-boot, but I was only peeking, not poking.

UBoot variables can sometimes disappear for no apparent reason. It's an old well-known problem, at least on the A1. Not sure if it is the same on the Sams.

Haha, that was it! I must have changed and saved some env variables, and apparently some u-boot bug resets those boot variables.

Phew, I am so happy and relieved, thought for a moment, that I lost all Napalm, Qt, wipeout etc etc code.... First thing I'm gonna do now is backup my system !

I experience the same loong ago even if not "poking" UBoot, so i solve checking the UBoot settings (as nbache say) and finally i boot from CD and i reinstall the SLB in Media Toolbox or the Partition Wizard don't remember exactly when ..

Don't worry I think your hard disk is ok, you are only into that crap with UBoot broken settings ...

I got the same problem, but only if i changed vars from the UBoot Preferences (seems there is also a bug in it).

Since then i avoid using the UBoot Preferences but if i haave to use them i first do a backup o the envvars

Check your ide and power cables. Mine arent the best so sometimes when i move my tower i get the same problem and it works pushing the cables. Probably bad connection somewhere for me. I guess my powercables.

@Kicko

I had this exact behaviour and it's the PSU that was dying (logical) so it would be a good idea to change it. I bought a cheap one at Jula that is working great this far. I also got rid of some hangs caused by loosing power to hard-drives.

Unless you're going to sell it in that condition and enjoy your X1000 when it arrives?
